Suede Sensations...

Marks & Spencer SS15

With 70's style sashaying down the Spring runways, suede emerged as the fabric of the season. And we couldn't be more excited! There's something about it that looks so luxurious and while these pieces might be on the pricier side, they are guaranteed to last the test of time. We're all about the investment buys! Marks & Spencer have hailed their suede skirt (above) as one of the hero pieces from the SS15 collection and it has already been given the seal of approval from style queens Olivia Palermo & Alexa Chung. It's due to land in-stores in early April, so keep a close eye over the coming days if it's on your lust list!

Don't you just love Olivia's attention to detail with the knotted belt? Fabulous!

Another piece that caught our eye is this stunning cape from Massimo Dutti. The colour, cut and shape are just divine. A classic biker jacket is perfect for Spring and a great transitional piece too. And if it's accessories you're after, there's no shortage of suede shoes, bags and belts on the high street!

Hope you like our picks!

Shiny Moments

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you all had a lovely week:) Can you believe it is the last weekend of March and Easter is just around the corner?
Here are a few of our shiny moments from this week gone by!

New shoes will always count as a shiny moment! I was beyond excited to get my hands on these babies last weekend. Thank you Dunnes for bringing us a slice of Valentino glamour for only €40!
I bought the black version last year and got so much wear out of them- the nude will be perfect for spring and summer. Shop online here  ~Laura

Midweek nibbles and drinks in the lovely surrounds of the newly refurbished Westbury Hotel. Always a nice treat!~Laura

I have loads of scarves but can't seem to resist buying new ones each season! I loved this soft coral colour from Parfois. They have a great selection of styles and their bags, shoes and jewellery are also amazing for spring/summer. ~Anne

I have also been adding a few spring touches at home! I like to change up the cushions and buy a few new plants each season! I'm also a sucker for these lovely succulents- they are so easy to look after too which is a bonus!~Anne

We hope you all have a fabulous weekend and don't forget to put the clocks forward an hour tomorrow night, when summertime begins!
At least we can look forward to longer brighter evenings and hopefully the weather will warm up a bit too:)

Loving Ren

My love for Ren products began last year when I tried some samples of the one minute flash rinse and absolutely loved them! My skin felt so clean and soft and more importantly I had no reaction to the ingredients, which is always a big issue for me when trying out new products!

As luck would have it I was invited with Laura in January to attend the launch night of their new instant firming beauty shot and just listening to the talk about the whole importance of keeping skin squeaky clean and using the right products for your face and body had me hooked!

This new one shot firming serum is an amazing product! I am concentrating on the line areas on my forehead and around my nose and mouth and it really does tighten the skin. My usual daytime moisturiser goes straight on over it and you can even reapply it over your everyday makeup for an extra boost throughout the day!
Laura also uses it first thing in the morning before applying her daily moisturiser and makeup for work!

More recently I was thrilled to get a gift of two more products for Mother's day which I am still trying out! The glycolactic bio peel mask is fantastic- once a week would definitely be enough to use it as it is quite strong, but the skin really glows and looks way brighter after using it! The Rosa Centifolia cleansing balm is more gentle and when applied with water it turns into a lovely rich milky cream! You can rinse it off with warm water -mine came with a lovely muslin cloth in the box. This one leaves your skin feeling so smooth and soft!

This is a quick photo I snapped after applying the  glycolactic mask and then using the one shot firming serum before rubbing in my normal mosturiser! I don't wear too much makeup on a daily basis but I am wearing Estee Lauder double wear foundation here in Wheat. On the whole I am happy with my skin except for slight sagging around the mouth and jawline which is normal for my age and hope I can continue to keep it much the same way for another few years at least!

I will definitely be sticking with Ren products for the moment as they seem to be suiting me and at fifty( actually 51 next week eek!!) I think it is high time I got into a more regular skincare regime!

Have you tried any of these products? Do let us know in the comments below, we would love to hear some feedback or tell us what skincare products work best for you:)

Sunny Spring Sunday

Hello, hope you all had a lovely weekend:) The sun shone brightly here and for a while it really felt like spring had arrived. I took full advantage of our sunny Sunday and went for a trip to the nearby  Donadea forest in Co Kildare.

It was a gorgeous afternoon, with dappled sunshine peaking through the forest trees and shimmering sun sparkling on the lake:)

It was great to finally wear some lighter layers and my new coat from Only came in very handy! It has the look of a mac but it is actually made of very light material, has a side zip down the front and also comes with a belt. I still need to buy new runners or some sort of light colour casual shoes, so the hunt is on! Meanwhile I wore these navy and silver Geox which are old but very comfortable .... I may look into that brand for a new pair!

Shiny Moments

Hi everyone,

Friday has come around quickly again - and not a moment too soon! We are so looking forward to the weekend! Without further ado, here's a few of our 'Shiny Moments' from the past few week :)

When the sun shines in Dublin, there's no place we'd rather be! What a view :)
Now, if it would just get a little bit warmer, we'd be very happy bunnies!

MAC re-stocked lots of their must have lip pencils this week. Cue major excitement! This one, Boldly Bare, is the perfect nude and goes just lovely with MAC Brave Lipstick or with Julianne's Nude by L'Oreal. Laura

With a feeling of spring in the air, I have purchased a few neutrals for my wardrobe- a light side zip coat from Only perfect for warmer days and a cream jumper from River Island. Anne

Getting ready for Easter so there is a little bit of re-decorating going on in some of the rooms! Big painting project taking place on an old dresser today, so we will see how that goes!!

Hope you all have a fab weekend!

Coffee and Pistachio Cake....

This is a very old recipe we love here, which I found in a magazine. With Easter coming along soon we thought someone might like a good old-fashioned style cake recipe to try out.
The addition of the pistachio nuts in this one gives it a lovely texture.

225g butter/8 ozs
225g caster sugar/8 ozs
4 large eggs
3 tbsps strong cold coffee
75g/3oz pistachio nuts finely chopped
250g/9 ozs self-raising flour, sifted (same for gluten free self raising variety )
25g/1oz icing sugar,for dusting

300ml double cream
2tbsp icing sugar
110g/3.9 ozs pistachios,roughly chopped

Preheat the oven to 180c .Grease two 8in sandwich tins. Place the butter and sugar in a large bowl and whisk until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time until well incorporated. Add the cold coffee and the chopped nuts then carefully fold in the flour. Pour the mixture into the prepared tins and transfer to a warm oven. Bake for 20 mins until risen and golden brown. Remove and allow to cool on a wire rack.

For the filling, pour the cream into a bowl and whisk until it forms soft peaks. Add the icing sugar and nuts and fold gently with a spatula until the mixture forms soft peaks.
To finish spread the filling on one half of the cake and sandwich together with the other half. Top with a dusting of icing sugar and serve.

Hope you all have a good Thursday!

Blush Interiors...

First and foremost, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
We hope all of you who celebrated had a great day/night.

One of  our very first posts on the blog was all about Blush fashion for Spring. Since the trend translates perfectly to interiors, we thought we would share some of our favourite ways to add a pop of pretty to your living space.

Soft pinks look just gorgeous against cool grey tones....

We love pink paired alongside gold and rose golds for a lovely sense of warmth...

Blush on Blush is so light and airy...

And sometimes all you need is a pretty pink bunch of Tulips to brighten any space :)

Hope you enjoyed our pink picks and got a little inspiration!

Khaki Cool...

Hi everyone, we hope your week is off to a good start!

Green is certainly in the air this week with all of the St. Patrick's festivities, but this evening we're looking at a particular shade of green. The colour in question is of course Khaki, which is being hailed as spring's coolest and most versatile neutral!

Spotted all over the runways from Chanel to Ralph Lauren, the look has successfully been incorporated into the Spring collections of our favourite high street players.

There are so many ways to wear Khaki this season. Whether it's utilitarian cool or safari chic. I personally love how Warehouse have worked it into their 'Modern Military' story for Spring. The duster coat above is perfectly feminine, whilst the army jacket below adds a fun urban twist to your every day jeans and stripy top combination.

Proving just how versatile this utility jacket is, the buttoned up look below makes for a gorgeous streamlined silhouette, offering a smarter take on the trend.

Here are a few more of our picks available in stores now...

Warehouse Trousers | Topshop Jacket | Parfois Bag | Topshop Cami Top | H&M Shirt | Topshop Dress

Are you crazy for Khaki? Let us know in the comments below!

Shiny Moments

Hello... hope you all had a lovely week and are looking forward to the weekend :) We promised to bring you a daily dose of shine, so as of today we are excited to announce a brand new series called 'Shiny Moments'! We thought it would be nice on a Friday to highlight some good things that caught our eye or made us smile during the week.

Here's round 1...

Brasserie Chanel:

When it comes to creating jaw dropping show spaces, ther'e no doubt about it-uncle Karl is King! The #BrasserieChanel setting for FW15 really wowed us on Tuesday.

I've dedicated an entire Pinterest board to style stalking Olivia but this outfit could possibly be my favourite one yet. Everything about it is perfect-the coat, the jeans, the bag... and those boots!
Top marks to her hubby too- what a gorgeous couple! Laura

We adore a bit of Spring sunshine and in between a few very wet days it was so nice to see such a blue sky and get out and enjoy some good old fresh air!
Hope there are lots more like this to come :) Anne

As it's Friday, a bunch of fresh flowers are in order and of course no weekend would be complete without the odd glass of bubbly!

Wishing you a beautiful weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day to all who are celebrating :)

My Skincare Routine

As much as I love make-up, it's skincare that gets me really excited! That feeling of taking all of the layers off after a long day and pampering with serums, oils and masks - bliss! Does anyone else experience this joy too?!

I have several trusted favourites that are never far from reach and I love trying new products too.
So, today I thought I'd share my current routine.

To take my make-up off, I love Garnier Miceller Cleansing Water. It's very gentle and so easy to pop on a cotton pad, quickly removing all traces of makeup in one step. It's perfect for using on eyes too and very soothing. At night time, if I'm wearing heavier eye make, I love Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up remover to tackle more stubborn liner and mascara. No panda eyes around here!

We've all heard the benefits of double cleansing, so once Step One above is complete, I'll use a cream Cleanser such as Clarins Extra-Comfort Anti Pollution Cleansing Cream. With ingredients including mango and shea butter, it's sounds as yummy as it feels on the skin.

I also swear by my Clarisonic and work this into my routine about three times a week. I got it for my birthday last summer and I wouldn't be without it now. It leaves skin feeling squeaky clean and my complexion is definitely clearer overall as a result. I use it with my Clinique Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser.

When it comes to serums my latest obsession is Clarins Double Serum. How have I only started using it this year? It's like a mini spa treat and literally melts into the skin after cleansing with the Clarisonic. I love it!

Speaking of Clarins, I'm also a huge fan of their face oils and love the Lotus Treatment Oil for the ultimate moisture surge overnight.

My current moisturiser of choice is REN Youth Vitality Day Cream. It's a lovely texture, not too heavy and my make up glides on over it like a dream. They do a night version too which I'll layer on over my serum.

And finally, masks. Anyone who follows me on Instagram will know that I'm completely obsessed with GlamGlow! The Youthmud is my favourite and I use this once a week, when I've got time for some extra pampering. All of the hype surrounding this product is 100% verified by me for sure! I've repurchased several times since first putting it to the test last year. It leaves my skin feeling unbelievably smooth, brighter and tighter. It's the perfect pick me up before a big event or night out!

Do you use any of these products or have any other recommendations for me to try?

Thanks for reading, I hoped you enjoyed it!
