Weekend Style

I don't know about everyone else, but this changeable weather is driving me crazy!! It's so hard to know what to wear when it's sunny one minute and raining the next! I have been living in this long line coat from H&M since picking it up a few weeks ago and I thought I'd share it here today, as it's such a great transitional piece.

I teamed it with a pair of Zara skinny jeans and a fine knit from H&M and managed to snap a few photos during a brief sunny spell!

The jacket is so easy to wear and it instantly dresses up a casual outfit. I think it would be lovely over a shorter dress or skirt too and I'm looking forward to styling it in different ways over the summer.

I can't find the exact coat online but here's a similar style from Vero Moda on ASOS.
My shoes are from Penneys last year (well worn!) and the bag is Caterina Lucchi at Clerys.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Shiny Moments

Another bank holiday weekend is here and summer is underway at last. It's a pity the weather is a bit mixed up, but a long weekend definitely makes everything brighter:)

Here are a few highlights of our week...

Definitely a shiny moment for me when my husband booked a week in Portugal the other night, even more so as I thought we were staying home this year....need to get beach ready for the week after next:)

River Island have a great sale on and I have ordered the above dress I featured here before, for casual holiday wear. Anne

Our youngest finished school yesterday for the summer hols. We enjoyed her end of year dance performance last night, which is always a proud and shiny moment for me:) Their modern tap routine was my favourite part of show! Anne

I was heading for lunch on Monday when I spotted these pink sandals in the window of Clarks, yes Clarks! I ran inside to check them out and was amazed to see many other gorgeous styles for Spring/Summer. I would never have thought to look there before but Clarks are certainly on my agenda again now. The leopard print above are fabulous too and look so comfy, yet stylish at the same time! Laura

I didn't have a lot of time to get ready last night and wanted something quick and easy, so I threw on this jumpsuit with a leather jacket over it to toughen it up! As I've mentioned before, I love wearing jumpsuits as they are so comfortable - the closest you will get to PJs whilst still looking put together!! Lots of you have asked me where this is from and unfortunately I picked it up last year. Not to worry, as there are so many similar styles available this season. Check out Littlewoods Ireland, Missguided and ASOS for some inspiration.

Have a fabulous long weekend!!

Rustic Garden Tables

I love big wooden rustic garden tables and I'm on the hunt for a new one for my own place at the minute. I have been getting loads of inspiration from Pinterest as usual- the idea above is just perfect for me but I think I need someone to make one as I haven't seen anything like it in shops or garden centres yet!

Here are a few other ideas I love...

Matching benches are great for extra seating

Another lovely rustic vibe and the mix of cushion pattern looks great with the toning accessories

These large tables are just made for fun garden parties-roll on warm summer evenings!

Hope you are all having a lovely week:)

Summer Colours

I was inspired by some lovely sunshine over the weekend to break out my new H&M jeans before it rains again! I like this fun coral summery colour and thought they would be great with tops or shirts for this season as a change from ordinary blue denim:)

I bought this simple boxy jumper with 3/4 ribbed sleeves in River Island at Easter and it is a great wardrobe staple to have as it goes with everything and it is perfect for casual weekend wear! I also love this Parfois scarf which picks up the coral colour of the pants.

Jumper |River Island   Jeans| H&M   Bag| DKNY(similar here)    Trainers| Dunlop   Scarf| Parfois
Bracelets |Thomas Sabo   Watch |Michael Kors

I am dipping my toes into the white trainer trend with these Dunlop ones I found in a local sportshop!
They are actually very comfortable, although a lot flatter than what I would normally go for, so they might take a bit of getting used to walking in for me!

Hope you all have a good week:)

Dress for the Occasion

Weddings, race days, summer soirees - the season for occasion dressing is upon us. And it can be so difficult! I'm one of those who is always last minute and under pressure to find something! Yet weeks later, I'll spot so many lovely things in the shops - when I don't need them! So today, we're getting a head start and rounding up some gorgeous gems that have caught our eye online.

Warehouse Culotte Jumpsuit | Needle & Thread Aura Maxi Dress

Since stumbling upon Needle & Thread on Instagram earlier on this year, I've been obsessed. This full length dress is beautiful and so delicate. Continuing the blush theme, occasion dressing doesn't necessarily mean you have to wear a dress. I adore this Warehouse jumpsuit!
River Island Lace Print Dress | French Connection Sundown Fitted Dress

I've also added some prints to the mix. You can't beat classic monochrome and this River Island number would be beautiful with bright colour popping accessories in pink or yellow. I thought the French Connection print above was very Matthew Williamson-esque and the fit would be flattering to a lot of figures.

Coast Frankie Dress | Coast Gracie Crepe Dress

Last up, some pretty pink/coral styles from Coast. The two piece is really big this season and I love this dress as it creates the illusion of a top and skirt, although it is only one piece.

I hope you enjoyed my picks and got some inspiration for your upcoming occasions this summer :)

Have a great week!

Shiny Moments

Happy Weekend - only another week of May left!
Time sure flies by when you are busy! Here is a little look back at our week gone by...

I am determined to start reading regularly again this summer and bought this book the other day on some great recommendations! I have only read a few chapters, but so far so good! Anne

Having a new bag on your arm is always a shiny moment - Laura bought me this gorgeous soft leather tan from Liebeskind Berlin for my birthday!

I gave it an outing today with my skinny jeans and khaki parka....so hard to know what to wear in this unseasonable weather, but as I said having a nice bag on your arm always adds a little interest to a basic outfit! Anne

Midweek catch up dates with friends are my favourite! I hadn't been to the Bailey for a while, so the tapas and vino tasted extra nice last night! Laura

I also have a new book to get stuck into! I have been so excited to get my hands on this since Aliza Licht announced it way back in 2013. DKNY PR GIRL was one of my very first social media icons & Aliza never fails to make me laugh out loud with her insightful and hilarious commentary! I'm pretty sure I'll have this finished by the time the weekend is out :) Laura

Enjoy the weekend everyone! We hear it may be getting a bit warmer...finally :)

Healthy summer eating

With summer on the way (hopefully soon!!) I would imagine we are all trying to get a good healthy eating system in place-I always think it is far easier to manage this now rather than in winter, when mugs of tea and hot chocolate are constantly on the go in a bid to stay warm and cosy! The inevitable sweet sugary snack which accompanies this is where I fall down!

These are just a few of my healthier favourite things I like to eat during the summer months!

Avocados are a firm favourite and I always keep them handy for making sauces or pesto but I know lots of people adore them mashed on some toast with favourite toppings. The one I made above was delicious- I just sliced a few strawberries to top the mashed avocado on gluten free wholegrain toast and added some parmesan cheese shavings to give a little savoury taste.

The combination of flavours was lovely and one I will keep on repeat here for a quick appetiser or healthy lunch snack!

My other favourite healthy snacks are bowls of fresh veggie crudites with a  hummus dip on the side to add a little extra taste! I use whatever I have  available and I absolutely love small sweet cherry tomatoes at this time of year. I eat them like sweets from the carton!

I have also being looking out for some easy quinoa recipes-pinterest (as always) came up trumps with a few unusual ideas and I saw a lot of recipes using summer fruits as extra ingredients to add to salads ! I tried blueberries and some mandarin segments in mine above to add sweetness to the basic salad leaf mix and then combined the cooked quinoa with it! You could also add a favourite salad dressing for more flavour if you need it. This is a good salad mix to have on standby for bbq days- a lovely side to serve with grilled chicken or pork:)

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Kimonos to Covet

Hi Everyone! So, as I mentioned in my holiday outfits post, kimonos are my new favourite cover up! Day to night, beach to bar, they really are perfect for any occasion. As there's so much choice in the shops at the moment, I had to do a roundup of some of my current faves!
H&M Patterned | River Island Cream Fringed | Missguided Multicolour | River Island Suede Effect | Zara Print

I purchased the H&M one recently and I love it! I'm looking forward to teaming it with denim cut offs as soon as we get some sunshine!

Are you a a fellow Kimono fan? Let me know if you have spotted any more nice ones! Check out our Facebook page for some styling inspiration too!

Summer dresses...

Is there anything nicer on a warm sunny day than pulling on a simple summer dress? Mind you the weather would want to improve drastically here as it is horrible for May at the moment! Having a couple of pretty dresses on standby is great for easy dressing, all you have to do is add a nice bag and sandals and your outfit is complete

No harm in gathering a little inspiration though in the hope that summer is upon us... there is lots to choose from this season, I have a plain ivory shift dress from Zara which I bought a few weeks ago and can't wait to wear it! I also love the white maxi above from Next:)

Here are a few more styles I like.

Pink sleeveless|Next    Floral Belted|Oasis    Printed Kimono|River Island

Asos

For a dressier summer event this would be perfect with a clutch and heels! I love the kimono style sleeve which is great if you like a little extra arm coverage! It also comes in cream.

Hope you all have a lovely week:)

Shiny Moments....

Happy Friday everyone-we hope you all had a lovely week:)

Here are a few of our highlights from this one.

I wish all Mondays ended with a cocktail while watching a beautiful sunset :) This beach front restaurant in San Pedro was just gorgeous!

Benefit always host the best product launches, so I was really excited to hear about their brand new 'Full Colour' collection this week. 'They're Real' is going a whole lot more colourful with blue, green and purple joining the push-up liner family along with the addition of a blue and brown mascara. Some of the colours sound so scary but when applied, look so wearable! Full review and photos to follow soon :) Laura

My mum is staying with us for a while and Laura and I brought her out to The Elms in Punchestown for afternoon tea during the week.

There is a lovely interiors  shop attached to the restaurant and I thought these copper serving bowls on a slate slab from The Just Slate Company were fab! Anne

Have a wonderful weekend!

Holiday Outfits...

Hi everyone, I'm back from sunny Spain!
It was a fabulous long weekend and I only wish I could have stayed longer :) As it was a 4 day trip, I was very disciplined with the packing this time around, and even managed to fit everything into a carry on bag for a change! I snapped photos of a couple of my outfits below and will do a separate post on holiday packing tips in the coming weeks :)

As we were going on a day trip to Morocco, I was conscious of the need to cover up yet remain cool at the same time! This floaty maxi dress from Mango was perfect and really light and airy. I added a kimono from Warehouse as a cover up which again was a nice lightweight fabric. I'm obsessed with kimonos lately and will wear this one again with denim jeans or cut-offs later on in the summer.

Dress Mango | Kimono Warehouse

I've mentioned my love for playsuits before and I actually brought three of them on holidays, along with a full length jumpsuit. They are just so easy to wear and comfortable too! I found this little cream one in Mango a couple of weeks ago and I love wearing it. It's such a verstaile piece that works for day or night. Sorry the picture is dark!

Playsuit Mango | Clutch Mango | Shoes Kurt Geiger

I picked up a couple of bikinis and cover ups in Penneys before heading away and I have to say, I'm so impressed with their swimwear collection this season. The above was great for throwing on for trips to the pool. I couldn't resist the pom poms!

Kimono c/o Oasis

On the last night I wore a tribal dress that I got in Zara last year with a new Kimono kindly gifted to me by Oasis. The Kimono is also perfect to wear as cover up at the beach or pool. Once again, we love the versatility!

Now I'm seriously missing the sun!!

Hope everyone is having a great week :)

Casual Summer Bags...

I love all my handbags big or small but come summer I think the large shopper style tote are fabulous and very practical- plenty of room for days out or trips to the market for fruit and veggies!

Here are a few new season styles I love...

Venice Tote from Boden

Faux leather snakeskin M&S

Fab large statement bag  from Pull&Bear

Love this soft colour from Asos

A lovely holiday option from Warehouse

I love these casual bags and think they are a great size for busy days out when you need to chuck everything in bar the kitchen sink, or for travelling on a plane as part of your hand luggage:) I have  several in different colours which I switch over to for summer use.

Hope you all have a lovely week:)
