Satin pillow cases from Savvy Sleepers....

I was delighted to return from holidays recently to find Laura and I had being sent two gorgeous satin pillowcases from the team at Savvy Sleepers.

These satin pillowcases are the brainchild of Dale Janee, a fashion and lifestyle blogger at Savvy Spice. Each pillowcase is 100% pure satin and available in 6 rich shades.
They arrived in the most gorgeous packaging with a sweet little note, which really shows how much thought has gone into the whole production of the product.

White Russian satin pillowcase

Laura has the White Russian shade and mine is Nappucino and we can honestly say they are the most gorgeous things to sleep on! They are so good for the hair, preventing breakages and split ends. Plus they are said to prolong the length of a blow dry! (I'll be putting that one to the test tonight! - L)

The best part selling point? You wake up in the morning feeling refreshed with no strange pillow marks down your face!!

Now that is a major bonus in itself, as I always seemed to end up with these weird facial lines when I had to be somewhere important first thing in the morning! Not a good look and one reason I had always wanted to own a satin pillowcase. They are highly recommended by dermatologists for anti-aging too...win win :)

Thanks again to Dale and all the team at Savvy Sleepers. if you would like to order one or learn more about the product just log on here  Savvy Sleepers

Hope you all had a lovely sunny day:)

Sweet Sunday at Kildare Village

Hi all, hope everyone's week is off to a good start!

We had a lovely weekend, topped off with a trip to Kildare Village yesterday. I have been admiring those giant macarons on Instagram for the past few weeks and had to go for a little look around!

We fitted in a delicious lunch too, amidst browsing the fab shops.

I kept it casual in my Zara jeans and a little bomber jacket from River Island. My comfy wedges are a couple of years old from Zara.

We're gearing up for the heatwave now and hoping we wake to sunshine tomorrow!

Have a good week :)

Shiny moments

Happy Friday....we made it through another week and at times it felt like real summer was arriving. It was so warm and humid some days but long may it continue! Here is a little peek at our week gone by.

Last weekend got off to a great start with The Script gig in Croke Park. I have seen them live so many times and they never fail to put on an outstanding show. The atmosphere in the stadium was amazing!

I wore my fave Mango playsuit again and finished off the look with these comfy flats from Parfois:) Laura

I love a trip into the city and started a little sales shopping with breakfast in Clodagh's kitchen in Arnotts . I had poached eggs and avocado served with a gorgeous gluten free sourdough bread. It was delicious and a lovely way to relax before hitting the shops:) Anne

For once I kept my sensible hat on and bought new bedding for our own room which I badly needed.  I always like to buy them on sale as the markdowns are great! This set was half price in Arnotts down from €90 to €45 and they are 100% cotton which I love!
I did treat myself to a new wallet for summer in Parfois  and had to make a fast exit out of Mango as I could have bought the whole place, but really couldn't justify any new wardrobe additions at the minute!! Anne

We are just about to enjoy a little celebration here as Conor  received his degree from Maynooth today in Business and Finance! We hope he has a great career ahead of him and good luck to all the students who got their results today!

Have a lovely weekend:)

Khaki and White

One thing I love about summer is wearing simple pretty blouses on a sunny day! They are handy too for those slightly cooler in-between days when a jacket is not needed yet you still want a little arm coverage! I like how they can add an instant feminine touch to an otherwise ordinary pants/jeans outfit:)

I bought this white one in my local boutique at the end of last summer and hadn't got much wear out of it before the cooler days arrived. I was delighted to take it out of the summer bag when I was switching over from my winter wardrobe!

White Blouse/Local boutique also love this one from Mango
Pants/Mint Velvet similar on sale here
Sandals/Clarks @ The Kildare Outlet
Tan Belt/Next

These mint velvet trousers were a great sale buy in the Dundrum store last year. I have worn them many different ways through last autumn/winter and spring, so I think items like these are good  pieces to go after on sale, as you really get your moneys worth!
I also picked up these sandals in the Clarks outlet at The Kildare Village before my holidays! Some fabulous bargains to be had there if anyone is still looking for summer or holiday footwear!

Hope you are all enjoying a little sunshine this week:)

Sale Season Part 1...

The sales are in full swing and we have been scouring our favourite high street stores for the best of the bargains. Here are some fab pieces we found at Oasis & Warehouse. Note that we have called this Part 1, in anticipation of even more bargains to come over the next couple of weeks from the likes of ASOS, River Island and more :)

Warehouse Angel Sleeved Gypsy Top was €24 now €13
Warehouse Pocket Satin Back Culotte was €55 now €30
Warehouse Aztec Cami Dress was €60 now €30
Oasis Organza Kimono was €56 now €28
Oasis Etched Botanical Jacket was €88 now €44
Oasis Reversible Shopper was €37 now €25
Warehouse Aztec Sequin Cami was €40 now €25

Sale season can send the best of us into a frenzy but after a many a mis-hap over the years, we have learned to keep it simple and only buy pieces that we really love!! Thinking 'would I pay full price for this' is often a good test :) Try to go for staples or statement pieces that will work with things you already own. For example, the kimono is most definitely a summer staple of ours (as seen here and here) while the printed blazer will instantly refresh your trusted white skinny jeans, as would the gorgeous blue cami and the fresh yellow tote bag! Did we mention the bag is reversible? Win, win :)

Have you splurged in the sales? Let us know in the comments below!

Holiday outfit post

When packing for the holidays I had a clear vision of some of the outfits I wanted to wear, but as it turned out I failed drastically on the shoe front, bringing about four extra pairs than I needed. The husband has stated we will definitely be taking a carry on the next time!!
Anyhow most of my outfits came together quite well and one of the pieces I really loved was this loose kimono style print cardigan which was great to layer over a vest and jeans on cooler evenings

My one is from the brand Only and I liked the mix of blue/turquoise tones in it. I wore it here with a simple black vest and my white jeans. I added an old Primark/Penneys necklace to pick up on the colour tones and black wedge sandals to finish the look:) I also brought two other kimonos- one floral and another print in the same style with me and would highly recommend them for holiday wear as they are light and easy to pack and so versatile!

Kimono style wrap/Only (can't find my exact one online but lots to choose from here)

Black Vest/Dunnes

Sandals(current) and Necklace(old)/Penneys/Primark

Hope you all have a lovely week:)

Shiny Moments

Hello and Happy Friday...this week flew by with all the moving around and changes happening for both of us, but here are a few of the nicer bits that made us happy this week :)

Totally missing my lovely morning coffee poolside.....the coffee was divine and a great start to the day:) Anne

I've decided that 'Tapas Thursday' should definitely become a thing after a lovely meal and catch up with friends in Salamanca last night! The food was divine :) Laura

Arriving home from holidays was made a little easier with a lovely gift of satin pillowcases from Savvy Sleepers! Laura and I are excited to use them and will have a review up on the blog shortly! Thanks again to Dale and Brittany for the lovely gift :) Anne

The sun has been making a few appearances this week, so out came the white skinny jeans! I was excited to finally wear this gorgeous blazer, kindly gifted to me by the fab Littlewoods Ireland team at their #HelloSummer event last month. It's no secret that I love all things blush and the rose gold zip details stole my heart :) Laura

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Laura & Anne

Some Holiday Snaps

Hello, hope everyone is well! I am back from my holidays in Portugal and must say I enjoyed the little break immensely! I just want to thank everyone who sent Laura the notes, emails and texts- it is very much appreciated and I am fully confident she will be in a great new job soon!

Here are a few quick snaps of some of the lovely surroundings and I will be back with some holiday outfit photos when I get them sorted!

We stayed in the lovely Rocha Brava complex which is 3kms from the village of Carvoeiro on the Algarve.

I would highly recommend this area to anyone, especially those with kids or teens as there is lots to see and do for all ages!

The beaches are some of the most beautiful I have ever seen and the selection of fresh local food was  amazing!

There was also a great choice of restaurants within walking distance of our apartments to visit for a lunchtime snack or a great evening meal.

Back to reality again now and I am hoping the sun will stick around here for a bit.

Take Care:)

Changes..

The above is ringing very true at the moment. As those of you who follow me on Instagram will know, last Friday evening my world was turned upside down with the sudden closure of Clerys, where I have worked for the past 4 years.

I've been feeling a lot of emotions over the weekend, mainly sadness. I'm sad for my colleagues and friends, many of them having devoted over 30 years service to the store - we were hit with the news like a bolt out of the blue. I'm sad for the loss of the store itself, an iconic landmark in Dublin which held a place in the hearts of many throughout the years. And I'm sad to see all of our hard work in building and developing a brand that we were passionate about, washed away within minutes.

At the same time, I feel very lucky to have been part of the Clerys story and to have had the chance to work with such a talented team. The skills and experience I have gained are priceless and I have hundreds of happy memories that nobody can take away.

I've spent a lot of time reflecting over the weekend as I consider my next steps and I've come to the conclusion that a positive outlook is key! As clichèd as it may sound, everything happens for a reason and although I'll close out this chapter with sadness, I'm excited to embrace my next adventure.

Thank you to everyone who left such kind messages and took the time to comment/e-mail/call/text me over the weekend. I am overwhelmed by your support!

Normal fashion service will resume tomorrow but for now, I'll leave you with some words that hold a lot of meaning for me at this time.

Have a great week

Shiny Moments

It seemed like Friday took a long time to come around this week but we finally made it - yay!
The gorgeous sunshine has been accounting for a lot of this week's Shiny Moments both home and abroad...

Mum has been soaking it up in lovely Portugal, while myself and Tia are enjoying the longer brighter evenings at home!

I'm was so glad to break out the summer shoes this week and even happier to find this pair that I had completely forgotten about at the back of my wardrobe - Penneys gems from approx 5 years ago and worn only once or twice!

And finally, Thursday catch ups with friends in Sophies Dublin is always a nice start to the weekend :)

Have a fabulous weekend!

Sandal Season

A girl can never have too many flat sandals - especially now that the sun is shining!
There are so many gorgeous styles in the shops at the moment and my wishlist is a mile long....see below :)

ASOS Gladiator Sandals | Zara Bobble Detail Sandals | Moda in Pelle Noelle Sandals | Head over Heels by Dune Snake Effect Sandals | River Island Woven Sandals

Gladiator styles are definitely coming out on top and think I'll have to add the tan ASOS pair to my basket! I have been admiring them on the fab Emma Hill and love how she has styled them here! I also couldn't resist the bobble pair from Zara - only €29.95! These are perfect for a more dressed up evening look.

Luckily, nearly all of the sales have started or are kicking off very soon - so it's the perfect time to scout around for a bargain! Also highly dangerous for my bank balance - I have zero will power when it comes to sale shopping :)

Hope you are enjoying our gorgeous burst of sunshine!

Summer Layers

'Do I need a coat today or not?' is one of the questions we find ourselves asking regularly during the unreliable summer months or during that tricky transition time! For those mornings where you know it's going to be a lovely day but there's a slight nip in the early air, or maybe you want to dress up a basic jeans and tee look - the sleeveless summer coat is your new best friend.

We love this light, airy layer as it's a piece that will lift any outfit making it look effortlessly pulled together. From work, to weekend or even travelling it's one of our key summer pieces - so today we've compiled four of our faves along with some gorgeous styling inspiration!

Missguided Lightweight Sleevless Trench | River Island Grey Crepe Sleeveless Trench | Warehouse Longline Soft Waistcoat | Warehouse Abstract Leaf Waistcoat

We love the pop of colour in the Missguided style above and it's the perfect weekend piece. The River Island trench style is timeless and chic; while the Warehouse waistcoat options would work equally well with skirts and culottes in the office as they would with your favourite pair of jeans.

What are your thoughts on the trend? Let us know in the comments below!

Hope you are having a great week :)

Summer Outdoor accessories

I love nothing more than dining and relaxing outdoors on a fine day. Although real warm weather is a hit and miss in our parts, it pays off to be well prepared when the sun shines!

Shiny Moments

Hello and welcome to the weekend! As always here is a little round up of our week gone by!

Although it can be hard to get up early sometimes, getting a head start on the day feels so good! I snapped this photo of sleepy Dublin during the week, just as the sun was trying to break through. It was so peaceful and quiet which makes a nice change to the usual morning rush!Laura

Sale season has begun and I'm delighted with two bargains I picked up this week! Both items I have been lusting after too:)

I searched high and low for these Zara sandals for months and was delighted when my friend told me she had spotted them online. And for only €19.99 too! They were in my basket within seconds:)

This tote bag has been on my wishlist since we posted about it here and I couldn't leave it behind at 40% off in Warehouse! Who can resist a pink pom pom?! It's a great size for holidays and I love that it has a zip too for keeping everything secure. Laura

Waking to a  sunny morning is always a shiny moment and I was delighted to rediscover this jacket I had forgotten I bought last year in Promod! I think this brand is great for affordable well made clothes! This printed jacket I am wearing is brilliant for days when the sun shines but you still need to add a light layer over a tee:)

I am also collecting a few pieces for my holidays next week in Portugal and was delighted with my River Island sale purchase arriving this week:) This print dress is just perfect for casual holiday wear!Anne

Hope you all have a lovely weekend:)
