Culotte Jumpsuits to Covet

Hi everyone, happy Thursday. The long weekend is in sight and we cannot wait!

I'm very excited about today's post - having blogged about my love of jumpsuits and culottes before, I'm thrilled to see a fusion of both available all over the high street at the moment!

River Island Beige Print | Topshop Orange | Warehouse Navy | Oasis  Black | Oasis Tropical Print

These jumpsuits are so easy to wear - dressed up or dressed down they are ideal for any occasion be it work, weekend or a special event. Funk them up with a leather jacket or team with a sleek blazer for a smarter look. They are a great alternative to a dress with a slightly cooler edge.

You can achieve the look with cute co-ordinates also and I love how Stephanie Sterjovksi has styled the Chicwish two piece above.

I adore this similar style from ASOS but it's no longer available in my size! I'll be keeping an eye out in the hope that they get more in.

Hope you enjoyed our round up and got some inspiration!

Candles we love

Is there anything nicer than the warm, inviting scent of a lovely new candle? If you follow us on Instagram, you might have noticed that we are completely candle obsessed!

They are the perfect gift to give and receive and we're often buying them for each other. Below is an edit of our tried and tested favourites but we're always excited to try new ones. Penneys have some beautiful candles available at the moment!

If I had to choose one ultimate candle, it would be Baies by Diptyque. I have re-purchased this delicious scent several times and can't be without it! As an added bonus, the holders are so pretty they can easily be re-purposed for storing make-up brushes or little flowers!

From bedrooms to bathrooms, there's no space that won't appreciate a little candle loving :)

Let us know your favourites!

Peach and Blueberry Crumble...

Rainy July days and heavy grey skies have me craving sweet comfort food ! I love these little doughnut peaches from Lidl so I decided to use them in a comforting crumble recipe for dessert!

I used the same one I always make for my apple crumble just switching the apple filling to peaches and blueberries. This summer fruit recipe here is also lovely if you want to use other any other berries.

Crumble topping:
140g or 1 cup of oat flour or your normal choice of plain flour /gluten free brand etc
85g or 3/4 cup of light brown sugar
4 ozs or 125g of butter or margarine

6 peaches
1/2 cup of blueberries
1 tbsp of lemon juice
2 tbsp of castor sugar

To make the crumble topping:
Place the flour, sugar and butter together in a bowl. Combine with your fingers until the mixture begins to resemble large breadcrumbs.

Fill a saucepan half full with water and simmer the peaches and blueberries together with the sugar and lemon juice on the stove top until just soft.

Transfer to a buttered baking dish. add crumble topping and bake in a 180oc oven until it is golden brown.

Serve with your favourite toppings - I love coconut cream with a drizzle of maple syrup or just plain good old fashioned custard is fab with crumbles! The great thing about these is that you can have the topping made well in advance, ready to go with your fruit mixture! An easy dessert for summer dinners:)

Hope you all have a good week:)

Shiny Moments

With such a disastrous week weather wise we are badly in need of some sunshine in the form of Shiny Moments. We're hoping the sun will come out again over the weekend - not liking the fact one could do with heating on at night in July!

Anyway here are a few little things that made us happy this week :)

Stocking up on lovely fresh produce from the local markets....

Lazy summer nice is this glass candle holder from Dunnes home - only €3 and they also have a great range of small candles and tealights to put in it! A

This beauty has been on my wishlist for over a year. I finally took the plunge on a trip to Kildare Village last weekend as a new job/birthday treat :)

I got this cute little pom pom as a birthday gift but Tia thought it was a toy for her to play with!! I think this is one of my favourite photos of her to date :) L

Have a fabulous weekend!

He-Shi Overnight Ageless Tanning Balm

Happy Friday!

I'm enjoying a quiet night in so thought I would share my latest tanning tales! Although I love a golden glow, I have never ever applied tan to my face - for fear of turning orange! I was really intrigued when I saw this Overnight Ageless Tanning Balm from He-Shi though as it looks more like a skincare product rather than a full on tan...

I was dying to try it out and delighted when my lovely friends at the Make-Up Box Naas gave me one to experiment with!

What I love most about this is the soft velvety texture. It feels so light on the skin and leaves a lovely sheer glow once blended in. Brownie points must also be awarded for its anti-ageing ingredients! The formula contains Jojoba Protein and the cult Hyaluronic Acid which together boost the skin's moisture to leave it looking glowing and fresh.

It can be topped up every 2-3 days to maintain the glow and it's ideal for summer with a little BB cream and highlighter on top. Easy peasy!

Have a lovely evening!

Grey Maxi Dress...

I have always admired dresses, especially a plain and simple maxi style on others but often shy away from wearing them myself! I have this one by Sarah Pacini a good number of years and kept meaning to style it but always found it hard to get the right footwear to suit.

I took out these white runners I bought in May and remembered the day I was buying the dress, a very stylish assistant mentioned that she thought it would be fabulous worn very simply with a white vest and white trainers-I don't own any converse ones but tried these and was surprised that I actually liked the laid back casual look:)

Now our July weather is certainly not what it should be at the minute, so I opted to layer a black basic Zara cardigan over it before going out this morning! The simplicity of the dress would suit a few other shades as would adding different accessories. I think on the whole it is quite versatile  and I'm now looking at it in a completely new light! I was originally thinking of getting the ruching effect taken off but I am afraid it may spoil the shape of the dress.

Here are a few other inspirational outfit ideas I like....

Wear with a black leather jacket and sandals and accessorize with a statement bag...

Team with coloured strappy sandals and statement jewellery-the bright turquoise scarf is also a nice summery touch....

The pop of orange colour here is actually lovely for this time of the year and matches so well also with the grey....

These are a few other grey dresses I found that might appeal to someone:)

This very simple plain racer back style is a definite bargain from Selected at Asos for €30.14

Warehouse have this gorgeous midi style plait strap which is new in and I am also loving the side splits...

A sporty light jersey vest style from Esprit at Asos

Love this Sofia grey jersey number on sale from Iris And Ink at the The Outnet

I hope you are all having a good week-halfway to the weekend already!

Lace up Loving

Happy Tuesday everyone!

We're showing some shoe love to our favourite lace up flats today. We have been loving them for quite some time now and luckily they seem to be sticking around for another season - yay!

I found this pair in Parfois earlier in the summer and have worn them to death! I love how they can instantly transform a simple skinny jeans and tee look to something far more polished. From work to weekend, these trusty flats are necessary in multiple colours methinks!

Topshop Snake Print | Office Red | River Island Tan | Topshop Leopard Print | ASOS Nude

The ASOS pair above are definitely jumping in my basket at only €34.25. I've also got a soft spot for the ruby red from Office And who can resist a splash of leopard? Too many choices!!

Have you dipped a toe in the trend? Let us know in the comments below!

Oat Flour Banana Bread....

A few very over-ripe bananas prompted me to make this delicious banana bread earlier today and I decided to try it with some oat flour for a change. I already made pancakes with this flour and they tasted lovely so I was interested to see if it would work for this recipe also:)
I'm sure lots of people have their own special recipes for banana bread but I adapted mine from this one from here-adding the honey and coconut milk instead of the suggested Greek yogurt

1 3/4 cups of oat flour
1/2 cup of light brown sugar
1 tsp of honey
1 tbsp coconut milk
1/2 cup of melted butter (I used pure dairy free brand)
1 tsp baking powder
2 large eggs
3 large overripe bananas mashed

Blend the butter and sugar together, then add in the eggs, honey, coconut milk and mashed bananas. Mix in the oat flour and baking powder and whizz until the mixture is well combined.

Pour the batter into a well greased 2lb loaf tin and bake in a hot 180oc for 50mins or until an inserted  skewer comes out clean.

It is delicious plain or eaten with some extra butter melting into it whilst still warm, which is exactly how I had mine as I couldn't wait for it to cool and I also took advantage of a brief glimmer of late afternoon sunshine to eat it outside on the patio with a cup of tea:)

I hope you all have a lovely week:)

Shiny Moments

Hi all, hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
The summer sure seems to be flying by or is that just us? Here are a few of our shiny moments from this week:)

Re-discovering old recipes is always a nice. This Avoca cookbook is an all time favourite when looking for something nice but a little different to cook :)

A Friday morning that starts like this is always a shiny moment :)

I had a fabulous time celebrating my birthday with my besties in Kilkenny. Great food, yummy cocktails, amazing music (anyone looking for a wedding band, check out the Papa Zitas) and lots of laughs. We had a ball!

Spotted this very cute shop front and just had to pop inside for some yummy old school sweeties!

We're still on a sugar high here after just enjoying this gorgeous birthday cake....

Have a great Saturday night!

Summer party/hostess gift ideas

We all love a summer gathering with family and friends-even last minute drinks and nibbles in the garden takes on new meaning when it is bright and warm or maybe having to dash indoors when the weather does not co-operate, but whatever the occasion it is always nice to bring along a little something special for the hostess:)

These are a few simple ideas I love...

Flowers are beautiful and there is so much variety and colour available or make up your own bouquet and wrap in simple brown paper with a bow for a personal touch.

A bottle of bubbly or something fizzy is always welcome, as is a box of favourite chocolates or truffles.

Of course candles are nearly always on a gift list and something nice a summery like the Neom mimosa and lemon scent above would be divine:)

If you are after something a little different, I think that gold hurricane candle holder above from M&S looks so stylish and would be lovely on a summer table setting:)

Hope you are all enjoying the week:)

Wrap Skirts

Hi everyone, hope your week is off to a good start!

For today's fashion post we're looking at midi skirts that are ideal for day-to-night wear. The wrap effect is increasingly popular and adds a chic twist to even the most basic styles - like this grey jersey number from Warehouse. It looks oh so comfy!

Warehouse Grey Marl Midi | Topshop Striped Split Midi | H&M Tribal Effect Midi | Oasis Pink Floral Midi | Oasis Crepe Midi | Moda in Pelle Sandals | River Island Heels

We're also loving the two pink styles from Oasis above - and they are on sale! The gorgeous pink floral print would be lovely for a special occasion. Teamed with flat sandals or heels, the midi is definitely one to experiment with!

Hope you liked our picks :)

Mango salsa

We love to relax with a chilled wine at the weekend  and I always love to have some tasty snacks on hand to go with it:) I like to chip and dip but I'm always on the look out for some easy summer recipes just to mix it up a little!
I had a mango and some limes in the fruit bowl so this combination came together quite well.

1 mango diced
1/2 green pepper or chilli
a handful of cherry tomatoes sliced
2 scallions/spring onions chopped
juice of a lime
1 tsp tomato salsa sauce

Combine the diced mango, cherry tomatoes and diced green pepper into a small serving bowl. Mix in a teaspoon of your favourite tomato salsa sauce and sprinkle with the sliced scallions. Squeeze the juice of a lime over it reserving some lime slices to serve

I love it with the tortilla chips above, but it is also so good as a snack option served on rice or corn cakes! It keeps quite well covered and stored in the fridge for a couple of days.

Hope you all have a lovely week:)

Shiny moments

Happy weekend everyone! It has been a very mixed bag of weather for us here this week and not sure if there will anymore sunshine for a while, so for the moment we will have to pretend it is still summer!

Here are a few of our shiny moments from this week:)

We are big fans of Ren skincare here and we were delighted to get more of these lovely treats in the post this week:) The Moroccan Rose Otto is a beautiful scent and especially nice to use at this time of year, as it is so light and refreshing on the skin:) Anne

I spotted these sandals in Penneys/Primark during the week and just had to buy them straightaway! They are so comfortable and a great neutral colour for everyday wear:) Laura

I could also become addicted to these design your own Magnum ice creams available in Arnotts at the moment! This one dipped in white chocolate was absolutely divine!! Laura

We have the most beautiful pink roses coming over the wall from my neighbours this year and they always look so pretty in the sunshine:) Anne

Wishing you all a lovely weekend:)

Summer Stripes

It is no secret I 'm addicted to stripes and see no sign of my love for them ever waning! They are the first thing I am drawn to when I see a rail of clothing in a shop or whilst browsing online at sale reductions! The reason for this I think, is that they always look so refreshing and never date.
I think summer is especially good for showing a striped outfit at its best!

This week alone I wore them twice both in very different ways! The dress above is a simple shift style from the Only clothing label! It is two years old and still in perfect shape. I like this style dress as I feel they suit my figure best! The 3/4 sleeve length is also a bonus as I am not to keen at my age on tight short sleeves! Adding a pop of colour gives an added lift to the outfit for summer styling:)

Stripe Tinny dress Vila

I have found this one on the Vila website which is a very similar style to mine . It also comes in lots of different colourways and a fabulous price at €26.95.

Adding a denim jacket and casual crossover bag as seen above, makes for lovely simple daywear which always looks so chic.

Yesterday I had an impromtu visit to Dublin and lunch out with my hubs so out came a striped top to dress up my old denim jeans! I bought this one in M&S last year as I thought the bold vertical stripes would make a change and they are supposed to make you look taller!
The top is from their Autograph range and again great quality which will stand the test of time! I had to bring a suedette cropped jacket with me as the weather wasn't looking great heading off!

I don't see my style available this season but this wider stripe one is also lovely and on sale at Oasis at the moment if anyone is looking for a new stripe top.

Now I have to stop looking myself or I could be tempted to add a few more additions to my own wardrobe:)

Hope you are all having a good week-almost Friday again!!

Anne xx
