Autumnal vibes

Much as I love warm sunshine and holidays, I think autumn has to be my favorite time of year! I adore the colours of the trees turning and and the shorter evenings are perfect for cosying up on the couch wrapped in warm layers.
I always try to do a little clothes swap around now, but as September can be quite pleasant at times, I will leave a few lighter pieces out just in case that Indian summer arrives:)

This is the perfect season for laid back simple dinners and is there anything better than a throw it all in one pot wonder! Just looking at this delicious chicken and vegetable dish has me drooling and longing for cooler evenings!

image

I try to fit a walk in every day and love the colours of the countryside in autumn especially on a crisp sunny day:)

image

I adore layering especially with slouchy oversized knits and scarves! I think I will be in danger of buying too many this season as there are so many fabulous styles to choose from on the high street at the minute:)

Warm blankets and an open fire are just the best on a cool afternoon for a little time out-I also love to burn some gorgeous scented candles which add a special ambience to any room at this time of year:)

I hope you all have a good week ahead:)

Shiny Moments

Hello and welcome to the weekend!
It's the last weekend of August too and how quick the summer months have gone by!

Here are our shiny moments from this week :)

I love recipe magazines and this one caught my eye on the stand whilst grocery shopping the other day. It is the RTE guide Taste autumn edition and I would recommend it for some great recipes and foodie features :) The autumn berry crumbles are very appealing I must say!

I have tried to steer clear of impulse buys lately but couldn't resist a rummage on the sale rail in Bershka whilst my youngest was trying on some jeans! This top was only €5.99 and the mustard colour will work on into autumn as well!

I was in boot heaven in the Kurt Geiger store in Kildare Village last weekend! I had been eyeing up these boots online and was thrilled to come across them in the outlet. They were €60 cheaper there too which was an added bonus! After trying on both colours, black won for being the most practical. I'm so excited to wear them with capes and chunky knitwear :)

Catch ups with friends always make the shiny moments list! We beat the rain today with gorgeous views and delicious food at Avoca in Rathcoole.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Warehouse AW15

It was a bright and early start yesterday morning for a first look at the Warehouse Autumn Winter '15 collections. Easily one of my favourite stores, I was giddy with excitement to check out their latest offerings - and they did not disappoint! I personally think this is their strongest season yet.

The vibe is very much 70's bohemia, inspired by the streets of New York. The fabrics are uber luxe - a mix of sumptuous suedes, butter soft leathers and mongolian fur trims.Plenty of glitz and sequins too with party season on the horizon!

Shearling is big news and forms part of the exclusive Limited Edition collection. Pricey? Yes! But these are true investment pieces that are timeless and will remain wardrobe staples for years to come.

A beautiful selection of cashmere pieces also caught my eye - just made for cosy days indoors during the winter months!

It wasn't easy picking favourites but we've narrowed down a selection of looks that we can't wait to shop this season!

Some of these pieces are already available online and in-store now, with more to land over the coming weeks.

Autumn/Winter, we are ready for you!

Shoes for transitioning into autumn

The shops are packed with new arrivals displaying some fabulous pieces to transition your wardrobe into A/W. Whilst I love autumn I do struggle at times with footwear as some days are still warmish  (that word applies very loosely here in Ireland) but we do get a few sunny days where full on winter boots could be a tad too much. I thought I might look at some footwear that will work right on through October.

Starting with peep toes -these are an absolute favourite of mine, I bought grey ones from Savida in Dunnes last year and wear them constantly!

My Favourites

Office

These taupe suede peep toes from office are a great colour and would look equally good worn with dresses or jeans....
Topshop

These tan peep toe low heels from Topshop are also lovely and the fringing is so on trend for the 70's styling right now!

A slip on loafer or pump is another must have and they come in all shapes and colours so there's always a good selection to choose from. I always like something with a slight heel and of course a statement colour or pop of animal print is always fab and so stylish!

My Favourites

These metallic fringed loafers from Boden would look great with a blazer, plain t-shirt and denims! Add a large scarf in the new season colours (shades of mustard and burgundy are my favourites) and you have the perfect casual autumn outfit.

Dune

These leopard and black loafers from Dune are so stylish....perfect with an all black outfit and camel oversized coat for autumn.
Clarks

Lastly the lace up and runners trend is set to continue and you can't beat a good pair of casual shoes for everyday wear. I lived in my Clarks nude lace ups this summer and will be purchasing the same style in black as seen above! They go with everything and I love the very slight wedge on them:)
Nike

Laura has bought these Nike black runners and they also look great with oversized knitwear for casual weekend wear.

I hope you got some inspiration from this post, I could really do with looking at a selection of wellies and rain gear now as it is bucketing down again outside!

Shiny moments

Hello and happy Saturday :) We can't believe how fast August is going-almost back to school time again! Here are our shiny moments for this week :)

It was definitely a shiny moment for me when I found a great size table for my garden in the charity shop for €45! A few coats of Dulux outdoor wood paint in Modern Stone and it blends in fine with my garden chairs! Anne

Weekend breakfasts are the best and waffles or pancakes are always on the go here- just add some fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup to make them extra yummy!

I cannot resist pretty stationary! Love this colourful notebook I picked up during the week. Laura

Still getting the white jeans out at any opportunity....

We had a lovely lunch today in Newbridge Silverware - well worth a visit for an afternoon out. We'll be back again for coffee and cakes - they looked amazing!

Have a lovely weekend!

Decorating with white Flowers

There is definitely a sense of beauty in simplicity and whilst I love all flowers my absolute favourites have to be white arrangements:) From single stems in vases to big blousy blooms, I think they are so elegant and look good in almost any setting, which is an added bonus:)

Here are a few inspirational ideas I love:)

Grouped together in different shape and height vases they make a stunning statement....

A simple but gorgeous bouquet for a side table....

I love the mix of silver and white here....

These simple stem arrangements grouped together are another of my all time favourites.....

My white hydrangea didn't flower too well this year but I have brought in some single cuttings to decorate here and there and love them arranged in small glass vases on a tray with candles.

I hope you all have a lovely Friday:)

AW15 Ankle Boots

Ankle boots have become a favourite for year round versatility and we're excited to update our collections in time for autumn! Paired with skinny jeans, skirts, dresses or opaques - they are the ultimate day-to-night staple.

There are so many gorgeous styles in the shops at the moment and these are just a few that caught my eye...

Dunnes Stores Tan | River Island Grey | Zara Beige | New Look Fringe

I've already picked up the Dunnes pair above, a bargain at €35! I love the fringe styles too...these New Look ones are 100% leather and the colour would work well with so many different outfits!

Let us know if you have spotted any more gems!

Date and goji berry cacao balls....

I love a good no bake recipe especially when a sweet treat is involved! I had a packet of cacao powder in the press and love dates and goji berries, so I combined these with some healthy sunflower and pumpkin seeds to make an energy ball.

This is the combination I used....

1 cup of dates softened in boiling water
1 cup of goji berries
1/2 cup of mixed pumpkin and sunflower seeds
2 tbsps cacao powder
Some dessicated coconut for coating (optional)

Soften the dates in boiling water for 5 minutes and put in blender. Add the goji berries and pumpkin/sunflower seed mix and blend until well combined and softened. Sprinkle in the cacao powder and mix again until it completely coats the date and seed mixture.

Turn onto a plate and roll into little balls, This amount should make about 12. I put them in the fridge for half an hour then took them out and coated them with the coconut as an added flavour! You can omit this step if you rather them plain. Place them back in the fridge for another hour until well chilled and hardened.

Hope you all have a good week ahead!

Shiny Moments

Hello and happy Saturday to everyone! We've had a busy week with lots of shiny moments to share.

What a difference a little sunshine makes to everything! It really felt like summer had finally arrived for a couple of days:)

I had a quick trip down to Cork this week and spent a lovely morning shopping in the city:) Anne

Zara Blouse | Next Shorts

So happy to get some warm sunshine here at home also this week and I was able to wear some shorts at last without freezing my legs off!!

I picked up some lovely coppery toned bits in Penneys and Dunnes - the rose gold obsession continues! Laura

On Wednesday evening I went along to the launch of this year's Dublin Fashion Festival in the beautiful surrounds of Dublin City Hall. Fashion and cocktails...what more could a girl want?!

The lovely Pippa O'Connor is the face of this year's festival and looked gorgeous in a Reiss jumpsuit from Arnotts. She was on hand to introduce the catwalk show with a fabulous taster of what's to come for AW15. I can't wait for the festival to kick off in September!

I rounded up the week with yummy pizza and some rosé :)

Cheers to the weekend!
