Weekend Trip to Bath

Hi everyone, hope your week is off to a good start!

As promised, I was snap happy in Bath so here's a little round up of my weekend :)

I knew Bath was meant to be a beautiful city but it actually exceeded all of my expectations!
We were blessed with gorgeous weather both days, which made it even more amazing. The architecture was just stunning and we had a lovely time roaming the cobbled streets, uncovering all sorts of lovely boutiques and shops. Even the high street stores looked regal, housed in stunning Georgian inspired buildings!

We stayed in the Abbey Hotel, which was very central and ideal for a short weekend break. I loved the interiors in the bar and restaurant too. How cool do the glasses look hanging from the ceiling?!

The highlight of the trip was our visit to the famous Roman Baths. It felt like we were transported back to ancient Rome for a couple of hours :)

We enjoyed some lovely meals and cocktails too, as we were celebrating a very special birthday! Cafe Retro is a delicious spot for brunch and La Perla is a lovely tapas restaurant tucked away in an underground wine cellar.

Onto outfits and I'm glad I packed layers for this trip - I was soon peeling them off, as it got warmer throughout the day! My trusty Nike Thea's were also great for the amount of walking we did.

On Saturday night, I teamed a new suede effect dress from Zara with a simple leather jacket and ankle boots. I was in an 'all black everything' mood and it was super comfy!

All in all, it was another great weekend full of laughs with my best friends. I love having little trips like this to look forward to and hopefully we'll have another one in the not too distant future :)

As for Bath, I'd definitely love to go back again. Next time, a spa trip will need to be scheduled in too...they all looked amazing!

Have a great week :)

Travel Light

Packing for a weekend away used to mean chaos (and multiple bulging bags!) for me. But after a few trips this year, I've got travelling light down to a tee - all with a little pre-planning!

The best way to approach it, I find, is to list all of  my outfits for day and night. Before, I would just throw a random stash into the bag and hope for the best! Having a well thought out selection of basics in a complimentary colour palette will allow you to mix and match with ease.

The below selection will work for day and night covering off style, comfort and warmth!

Reiss jumper | River Island wrap top | Selected Femme blouse |River Island top |
Oasis camel coat | Warehouse coatigan | Warehouse leather jacket

Zara faux leather trousers | Topshop Playsuit | River Island mollie jeggings
River Island heels | Topshop bag | Warehouse tote | Asos ankle boots | Puma runners

With that, I'm off to pack my bag for a weekend in Bath to celebrate one of my lovely friend's birthdays. I'm so excited to visit this beautiful city and will be back next week with plenty of photos to share :)

Happy Friday!

A/W Beauty Update

Hello new week :)

A change in season means a switch up in skincare too. My skin can get quite dry so I always look for extra hydration come autumn/winter. I've recently started using Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser and it has fast become a favourite!

Packed full of natural borage and rosehip seed oils, Vitamin E and pomegranate fruit extract - it feels rich and luxurious on application. My skin instantly feels smooth and hydrated - it's the perfect addition to my night-time routine!

I'm already a huge fan of Liz Earle's iconic Hot Cloth Cleanser and the two combined make for a lovely at home facial :)

Have a lovely week!

Buckwheat and Chia seed scones

I love a scone at any time of year but there is something about autumn that makes me crave a fresh warm scone and hot mug of tea even more than usual. I love using buckwheat flour and followed this scone recipe here but omitted the honey and added chia seeds and sunflower seeds instead.

Ingredients - Makes about 10 small rounds or 8 large ones

1 cup buckwheat flour
2tsps baking powder
1 large egg
1/4 cup of almond milk or any type milk you prefer
1/4 cup of chia seeds
1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
2 1/2  tbsps butter or margarine
1 tsp salt

Mix the flour, baking powder, seeds and salt in a bowl. Add the egg, butter and milk and blend to form a light dough mixture. Turn onto a well floured table and cut into even rounds.

Bake in a hot 180C oven for 15- 20 minutes.

I love eating them warm from the oven with butter and of course jam:)

Other good serving suggestions:
Cheese and chutney
Banana and honey
Almond butter

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Shades of Grey...

Grey days are far from dull this Autumn/Winter - when it comes to fashion that is! From soft tones to rich charcoals, grey works so beautifully against staples in black, denim and blush. Or like the image above, grey on grey is equally gorgeous!

Whether it's a new coat or a cosy knit, there's plenty of cool greys to choose from. We're particularly impressed with the knitwear and basic tees on offer at Mint Velvet - well worth a look!

Warehouse Waistcoat | River Island Coat | Mint Velvet Star Knit | Topshop Knit | Mint Velvet Scarf | Oasis Top

Never one to let us down, Penneys has come up trumps with this soft knit. I'm all about oversized knitwear and love how cosy this one is!

Hope you found some inspiration with our grey picks :) Have a great week!

Shiny Moments

Happy Sunday all! We are a little behind with our shiny moments this week, but better late than never so here are a few little moments that made us smile:)

We enjoyed some lovely warm September days this week which made for beautiful evening walks - I love the stunning autumn colours on the trees at the moment:) Anne

I am also enjoying getting back to reading in the evening time again rather than constantly scrolling through my phone! Anne

Taking time out to pamper is the perfect mid-week pick me up....Laura

We actually both picked up one of these wraps in Penneys (by a random co-incidence!)
It's an ideal transitional layer and so cosy!

Some Tuesday treats at the H&M Studio AW15 event. Cake pops and Prosecco...what's not to love :)

Here's to another great week ahead, have a lovely Sunday evening

A Night with Littlewoods

Happy Friday everyone!
With stormy weather outside, we couldn't be happier sitting in tonight with plenty of tea to catch up on a very fashionable week - both at home and in New York with fashion week kicking off!

Last night, we went along to the launch of Littlewoods Ireland A/W15 collections in the beautiful surrounds of the Morrison Hotel Dublin - transformed into an autumnal forest especially for the occasion!

Styled by Courtney Smith, the show served up a mix of 70s bohemian vibes, animal prints and some fabulous outerwear.

This Lipsy utility jumpsuit was a star piece that wowed the audience! Every time we log on to Littlewoods, there seems to be even more brands available! High street favourites Oasis, Warehouse and French Connection are all there too.

And finally, can we take a minute to admire the gorgeous Vogue Williams - her cape dress is definitely one for the wishlist!

Hope you enjoyed our round up. Have a fabulous weekend :)

Girls Trip to Liverpool

Hi everyone! I'm just about recovered from a jam packed weekend in Liverpool with the girls :) It was my first time there and the city of music did not disappoint!

We stayed right beside the docks - such a gorgeous area and within walking distance of everywhere we needed to go. Blue skies all weekend made everything even better!

I took my new River Island flats for a spin for our shopping trip on Saturday. More on my fab Primark haul coming in a future post! :)

No trip to Liverpool would be complete without a trip to the famous Penny Lane! Beatles fan or not, the Magical Mystery bus tour is a great day out, taking you on a whistle-stop tour through the childhood homes, and more, of John, Paul, Ringo & George!

Continuing the tourist trail, we climbed on board the Liverpool Eye for a birds-eye view of the city below!

And who can walk past a pretty carousel without jumping on :) Not us!

Plenty of laughs were had sampling the buzzing nightlife! Everyone in Liverpool was so friendly and the atmosphere in the bars and clubs was electric. There's so many places to go and something for everyone.

It's safe to say we loved Liverpool and cannot wait to go back again!
