Lustrous Christmas | The Party Edit

Happy Monday everyone :)

Today we're turning our thoughts to partywear with lots of inspiration to see you through the season in style.

Faux leather trousers are a staple in my wardrobe all winter long but particularly around Christmas time. Go casual with an oversized knit during the day and glam them up with dash of sparkle for your night time look. This glitzy top from River Island is stunning and just made for twirling around a dancefloor.

I adore a jumpsuit for a night out and this one caught my eye recently in French Connection. The luxurious velvet finish really makes this piece stand out and it's oh so festive too. Complete the look with a slick of your favourite red lipstick and a statement clutch. How fab is this bauble bag from H&M? Their Happy & Merry holiday collection is definitely one to check out this season - with some showstopping pieces at amazing prices!

Party season wouldn't be complete without a bit of glitter and this rose gold number screams New Years Eve! It's part of the Christmas capsule collection at where there's a stunning selection of dresses on offer for every festive occasion! Plus you can avoid last minute panic and enjoy free, next-day delivery - win win :) These nude River Island shoes are also perfect for party season and will work hard with lots of different outfits.

Hope you enjoyed our round up and got some inspiration :)

Shiny Moments....

Happy Sunday everyone! Almost December now and the Christmas spirit is in full swing:) Here are some of our lovely shiny moments from this week.

We are excited to start decorating for Christmas...

Keeping warm in cosy pastel sweater and scarf

I went into Penneys for 'a look' and came out with these shoes and a super soft faux fur scarf! For €18 each, I couldn't leave them behind.

I enjoyed a lovely afternoon in Dublin yesterday with friends. If you haven't had sampled the brunch menu in Sophie's yet, put it on the list for your next visit. The cocktails are divine too :)

Everywhere is starting to look so festive with the twinkling lights :)

Have a lovely Sunday!

Lustrous Christmas | Gifts For Her

Good morning all :)

With Black Friday mania taking a hold and weekend full of offers ahead, what better time to tick some more gifts off your Christmas shopping list. Here are a few of our favourite picks for the ladies in your life :)

A beautiful blanket scarf is an accessory to be treasured season after season and you can't go wrong with a luxury White Company candle. Charlotte Tilbury has already featured on Lustrous this week, but we couldn't resist these gorgeous gift ideas - this travel set is a perfect way to introduce a loved one (or yourself!) to her fabulous skincare range. All girls love a little sparkle and this beautiful Carat cocktail ring is currently on shiny radar. When it comes to watches, Olivia Burton is still our favourite for a gift that's so unique. The Frends headphones make a stunning statement with a beautiful rose gold finish and while we shouldn't judge a product by it's beautiful is this Marc Jacobs fragrance? Luckily it smells good too!

Have a fabulous weekend, happy shopping!

Charlotte Tilbury - Magic Foundation

I'm forever on the hunt for the perfect foundation and while I have a few trusted favourites, I'm always excited to put newbies to the test! I'm a huge fan of Charlotte Tilbury and her make-up collection already -  I love following her on Instagram and she always speaks so passionately about her products in her videos! So,when her new 'Magic Foundation' was released earlier this year, I was dying to try it out!

I've been wearing it recently both day and night and I am really impressed so far! Two pumps is all you need for full, flawless coverage. The formula looks thick when it comes out of the bottle but magically melts into the skin upon application.

Although it gives full coverage, it doesn't feel mask-like at all and it's particularly good for reducing redness in an instant. Packed with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C, it left my skin feeling super fresh. It's not drying either, meaning you can easily top up during the day if you want a little more coverage to take the look from day to night.

There's 15 shades available with something to suit every skin-tone. It can be daunting trying to select the correct foundation shade so I made sure to ask for lots of advice on counter! I eventually settled with 4.5 which is a perfect fit!

In terms of application, I find a buffing brush like the blank canvas F20 works best for a flawless finish - but the formula works equally well on a beauty blender or your fingertips!

Another recent purchase is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette above. I popped the first shade 'Dim' over the Magic Foundation and they worked really well together - my make-up stayed in  place all night without the need for topping up!

These two additions will definitely be regulars in my routine over the festive season :)

Next on my wishlist is Charlotte's Mini Miracle Wand! Has anyone tried it? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Berry and Black....

Hello - hope you are all off to a good week so far! I am loving knitwear so much at the minute and keep spying new pieces I would love to add to my wardrobe- I really find I wear knits more often than coats, as they are so versatile and you can add as many layers as you wish depending on how cold it is!

I had a voucher from an event at Littlewoods Ireland and was delighted to spot this berry poncho as I had been looking for something in that particular shade for a while! It is from Oasis and a lovely piece to throw on with a big scarf and rollneck jumper on a cold day!

I wore it here with my coated skinnies from Only and new leather boots I found in TKMaxx at the weekend. They are a Spanish brand Estefania Marco and the leather is so soft-I also like the pointed front and they will be great with skirts or dresses too.

I finished with a favourite scarf... an oldie from Dunnes and my DKNY crossover bag - a great style for casual days as it leaves you hands free for shopping!

Berry Poncho| Oasis @Littlewoods
Coated skinnies| Only
Black ankleboots| TKMaxx
Scarf| Dunnes (old)
Black rollneck sweater|Dunnes (current)
Watch|Michael Kors

Hope you all have a great week. At least I have started some of my Christmas shopping -now to persuade someone to go up the loft and pass me down a few boxes of decorations! Id say I will be waiting or I might have to go up myself!!

Take Care:)

Lustrous Christmas | Gifts for Him

Good morning and Happy Saturday!

It's time to kick off our Christmas content here on Lustrous and we couldn't be more excited! Over the next few weeks we'll be bringing you all of the gift guides, decorating tips, fashion edits, entertaining ideas and delicious recipes to see you through the holiday season in sparkling style.

So sit back, put the kettle on, hit repeat on Michael Buble and enjoy!

First up, we're looking at gift ideas for the ones who are hardest to buy for - the dads, brothers, husbands and boyfriends. The guys sure know how to challenge us!

A handy place to start is to think of practical things he needs but wouldn't necessarily buy for himself  - like these leather gloves from Dents. He'll be even more impressed when he hears Bond wore them in the latest 007 movie!

You can't go wrong with a smart tie or bow tie as the perfect stocking filler. has a fab selection for all occasions...they're really well priced at €15 and they'll deliver right to your door.

Ensure he stays warm all winter long with a wardrobe staple coat from Barbour and keep him feeling fresh with a luxury shave gift set by Gentleman's Tonic. Knitwear also makes a lovely gift for guys - we love Selected Homme for great basics.

If tech is his thing, a new pair of headphones will go down a treat. And last but not least, let us introduce you to the iKettle (which allows you to remote boil through wi-fi!)When we spotted this on Amazon, we just had to include it here! We know one guy in particular who would only love to find it under the tree this Christmas :)

Hope you got some nice inspiration from our first round up! Have a lovely weekend :)

Styling a faux fur gilet

I love faux fur gilets and always think they look so effortlessly stylish whether worn over trousers jeans, skirts etc! I was lucky to find a lovely dark grey one 2 years ago from F&Fclothing at Tesco and love it - such a handy layering piece to have for the winter season:)

There are a ton of options to choose from- some look fluffier than others, so if you want to dip your toe in the trend, a soft faux fur type might be the way to go!

Worn over an all black ensemble it looks both edgy and stylish....

Equally as nice over a black dress....

Olivia always gets the styling spot on....

And again in a more dressed up version for an evening event....

Dress up black shorts with gilet, blouse, tights and heels....

Adore this look on Millie the styling but think I will leave the hat wearing to Laura! Unfortunately they dont suit me having such short hair(:

Here are a few new styles I am loving this season.....

A simple style from the M&S indigo collection-this neutral colour would be great for adding an extra layer on chilly mornings.

Love this shaggy mongolian fur style from New Look @Asos

This is a beautiful style and colour from Savida @Dunnes-it also comes in black and green colourways perfect for the holiday season.

Or if you want to invest in a statement piece this winter how amazing is this longer version in night navy from Reiss?

I hope you are all having a good week! We are at the tail end of storm Barney here-nearly blew away last night walking the dog!! Here's hoping for better weather over the weekend!

Take Care:)

Shiny Moments...

Hello-hope you are all enjoying the weekend! What crazy weather we are having, nothing for it only to batten down the hatches and keep warm and snug inside!

Here are some shiny moments from our week:)

I love cosy cardigans and am delighted with this one I bought on Asos:)

I love a big roaring fire fire-definitely needed on these wet and wild days:) Anne

A hot drink and some yummy chocolate is always a shiny moment:) Laura

I had a lovely trip over to London this week, luckily the sun was shining and I gave my pink Mulberry Lily her first outing:)

I loved visiting Forest On the Roof restaurant at Selfridges-decorated to perfection, it really puts you in the mood for Christmas! Laura

We hope you all have a good week:)

Banoffee Muffins

Now that the colder days are here-well more wet and wild in our place at the moment, I've upped my intake of hot drinks and of course a nice treat to go with them is always something to look forward to!! I saw a lot of these muffins popping up on Pinterest and thought I would give them a go! I followed the recipe here but took the lazy option of buying ready made vanilla frosted icing.I also substituted oat flour for the self raising which I prefer:)

250g butter or margarine
250 g caster sugar
4 eggs
1 ripe banana mashed
250g self raising flour/I used 1 cup of sieved gluten free oat flour

250g butter
550 g icing sugar
1 tsp caramel sauce

I used Betty Crockers vanilla icing in a tub shown above with the cacao nibs which I also used for decorating.

Caramel sauce
300g light brown sugar
80 ml water
350ml cream /Double cream or coconut cream is fine
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Make the caramel sauce by combing the ingredients in a pan over a low heat. Set aside and
mix the butter and sugar in a large bowl until fluffy-add in the eggs one at a time and blend. Mash the banana and combine into mix until well blended. Add in the flour and blend to a smooth batter. Spoon into a large muffin tin or small cupcake cases. I got 6 large muffins out of mine - it should make double that or more if using smaller cupcake tins.

Bake in a hot 170c oven for 15 mins

Cool on a wire rack and decorate with the frosted icing.

Drizzle some caramel over the frosting and decorate with a sliced banana-I also added a few cacao nibs to mine for extra decoration. They are made from the raw cacao bean and supposed to be far healthier than ordinary milk chocolate drops!

I hope you enjoyed this recipe:)

Decorating with Sheepskin

Hi everyone!
It has been a wet and wild start to the week around here, so what better time to look at some cosy interior inspiration? :)

My Pinterest addiction has gone into overdrive since moving into my new apartment - with so many fabulous ideas, I find myself getting lost for hours on it! My latest obsession is sheepskin - whether it is draped on floors or furniture, I love this scandinavian inspired look - minimal, chic and oh so cosy!

A sheepskin throw instantly transforms a cold, hard chair into a more luxurious cocoon...

Perfect for dressing up the dining area too...

Bored of your brown couch? Just add a luxurious throw to perk it up...

Mix and match with different textures for added cosy :)

So far, I have spotted nice sheepskin rugs in Harvey Norman, Ikea and Homebase and I'm looking forward to putting some of the these ideas into action in my own space!

Hope you enjoyed our picks :)
