A few Spring updates....

January is almost gone and with Spring  just around the corner, it's time to look at a few ideas for updating the decor. Joy of joys I filled a skip with junk this week-normally I take things out then put them away somewhere else, but this time I was absolutely ruthless and cleared out loads! Now I can look at getting a few new bits and bobs without feeling guilty about my bulging cupboards:)

Buying some new tableware is always a good place to start and I love the gorgeous blue Spring floral pattern on this set from one of my favourite homestores  Meadows &Byrne.

Or a new special mug is always nice and this one from Anthropologie is just the perfect spring update....

Loving the delicate pattern on this cushion from Dunnes....

A new candle never goes astray and I like the look of this one from M&S....

I was in my local Heatons store the other day and was very impressed with their homewares section this season-they have some lovely colourful throws starting at just €15....

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Dungaree Days

They might take you back to your toddler days (Osh Kosh anyone?) but dungarees are experiencing somewhat of a revival for SS16! While browsing the shops over the past couple of weeks, I've spotted them everywhere. From tailored to relaxed styles, jumpsuits to playsuits - there's plenty of ways to rock the onesie look this season!

But how to style them you ask? It's fair to say, they can look quite scary on the hanger - but teamed with a simple t-shirt, sweatshirt or pretty blouse they are actually so wearable. I'm definitely leaning towards the playsuit style and think they look really smart teamed with a crisp white shirt. I also love the relaxed slouchy look paired with a plain white tee - perfect for those casual summer days.

ASOS Denim Dungarees | M&S Limited Edition Corduroy Dungarees | Warehouse Frill Insert Blouse | Topshop Moto Dungarees | Selected Femme Sweatshirt | River Island Slim Leg Dungarees

When it comes to outfit inspiration, nobody pulls the look off better than the fabulous Sincerely Jules! We love her dungaree style :)

Shiny Moments...

How can it be Sunday already? The weekend seems to whizz by when you are busy! How nice it would be to have an extra day between Saturday and Sunday, just to stretch it out  a little more:)

Here are our shiny moments from last week...

I don't make New Year resolutions as such but I do intend to read a bit more this year. I'm enjoying this book about Mindfulness my son passed on to me recently:)

Delighted to spot this trio of Trilogy products on sale in a local chemist! The handcream and lip balm are a great size to keep to hand in your bag:)

Loving these rose gold hangers from Penneys ....

Enjoyed some lovely nights out-starting the weekend with cocktails and good company in The Jar on Friday night

and we also had a lovely family meal in a local restaurant last evening:)

We hope you all have a great week:)

Casual Cool

2015 was the year that the fashion world officially fell in love with runners...and we're fully on board the bandwagon!

Since buying my Nike Theas last year, I've become obsessed and can't wait to add a few more styles to my collection. With Spring on the horizon, there's plenty of shiny new stock to choose from. Here's a few of our favourites...

Grey is my current go to when it comes to tops and knitwear - so I figure I need a pair of trainers to match! As mentioned, I love the Nike Theas and the New Balance are are fab too.

I can never resist a touch of blush and these rose gold capped Adidas Superstars are currently taking Instagram by storm! As for the splash of sparkle on the Kurt Geiger pair above...I'm sold!

I'm slightly cheating with the last pair, but wedge runners are so comfy too and this pair from River Island caught my eye - they would be perfect with skinny jeans.

Need some style inspiration? Here's a few pins we saved earlier :)

Are you a trainers fan too? Comment below or over on Facebook with your faves!

January pick me ups...

This first month of the New Year can be a bit bleak and dreary for many-yesterday was actually supposed to be the most depressing day of the year! Looking on the positive side, it has passed and Spring is just around the corner:) In fact I only discovered the other day that the Easter weekend is hot on the heels of St Patricks weekend this year which is such a short time!

Anyhow to get me through the next few weeks I am looking forward to making to make a few small changes here and there throughout the house and to my daily routine. These are some of my ideas that might give a little inspiration at this time:)

New bedding is always a good place to start and with so many sales
still in progress you are sure to find a set that suiits your budget. A few flowers or scented candle beside the bed also gives the room a lovely fresh feel:)

If someone is missing the cheery glow of the Christmas tree and lights- a simple bit of greenery and lanterns glowing softly can also look amazing and lift the room out of the doldrums!

Re-discovering old favourite recipes and adding some of your own ingredients can be a great way to gain new interest in cooking. I know this works for me, as I am always so fed up of standing at the cooker over Christmas - it is always nice to see how adding just a few different ingredients can totally change a tried and trusted recipe.

And lastly don't forget to treat yourself, even if it is something small like having a pamper night once a week or taking time out in a busy day to read and savor a cup of coffee or tea:)

Hope you all have a lovely week:)

Shiny Moments

Hi everyone :)
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend! That cold icy snap we had during the week was so welcome after all the wet and wild weather over the Christmas holidays. Here are some of our shiny moments from this week :)

Enjoying winter walks with the pooch (puppy not able to go out for another two weeks) and coming home to a warming bowl of chilli :)

Speaking of Miss Bibi- she has put on a little weight but is still so tiny! We are all afraid of stepping on her little paws!

Love a good brunch and catch up with good friends - this veggie plate at Foodgame did not disappoint :)

Today we are enjoying these divine chocolates from Hotel Chocolat! The only problem is trying to decide which one to have!

We hope you all have a good week ahead :)

Cold Weather Cosy...

Just when we were getting excited at the spring collections are starting to drop ....temperatures have also plummeted! Luckily we love layering up and getting cosy and will stick it out for a another few weeks...or months (who are we kidding?)

Today we've pulled together a few essentials for bundling up in style. Lots of these are on sale too, with the stunning Warehouse cape our star pick - down to only €25 from €75! It looks so luxe and is definitely one to snap up :)

A grey jumper is also a staple piece and perfect with skinny jeans - this COS one is gorgeous and will definitely keep the winter chill at bay.

Another great addition to any winter wardrobe is a quilted coat with a hood - perfect for those days when an umbrella just won't do. I like to refer to mine as my 'duvet coat' on cold mornings!

Accessories like these cashmere gloves and bobble hat make for a cute and cosy finish to your cold weather look. I love the soft pastels!

Stay warm!

Some January favourites and a couple of sale purchases

Hope you are all easing into the New Year-it is so hard to get back into some form of routine and I had also forgotten how hard it is to train a new puppy! As long as the furniture isn't chewed to bits over the coming weeks, we will be doing ok!

These are some of my Christmas gifts which I'm enjoying using this month.

I love any candles but this Voluspa one is really beautiful! It has a very delicate vanilla scent which lingers in the room for ages!

I had been looking for a berry colour cross body bag for ages so I was delighted to get this Fossil one as a gift! The leather is so soft and I like the simple design of their products:)

By coincidence Laura and I ended up getting exactly the same necklaces-they are by our own Irish designer Chupi , and the three rings on a delicate rose gold chain represent Love, Life and Laughter!

I also got another lovely Alex and Ani bracelet from my brother and Sister in Law to add to my growing collection!

As regards to the sales I had a clear vision of what I needed and for once I wasn't swayed by all the tat on offer! I needed a warm Parka jacket and this Mango one fitted the bill! I love the length and the pocket detail on the front!

After searching for ages for the perfect camel coat my local boutique came up trumps! They reduced this one from Selected Femme from €199.95 down to €99.95 so I snapped up the last one in my size! I love the oversized cocoon shape and it will be perfect worn casual or dressed up with boots and scarves:)

I am not buying anymore winter clothes, as I had a good clearout last year and still haven't worn some of the pieces I had forgotten about at the back of the wardrobe! I am so looking forward to getting a few new spring purchases later on:)

Have a great week:)

January Refresh...

We've nearly made it through the first full week of 2016 - yay! Roll on Friday!

After a season of glitz and glam, simplicity is the name of the game. We're paring things right back for a January with a soft, muted colour palette. It's the perfect time for a wardrobe refresh, focusing on great take-you-anywhere basics.

Below are a few lovely pieces that have recently caught my eye. And what's a new season without a new lippie? I'm currently coveting the new L'Oreal Colour Riche Exclusive Pinks collection - every shade is so pretty! One might need to slip into my basket as an end of week treat :)

PS. For any cashmere lovers, this scarf is currently reduced from €117 to €65!

Have a fabulous weekend ahead :)
