Stila SS16

Happy Friday everyone! And hello long weekend :)

Today we're talking beauty with all of the details from the Stila SS16 launch that we popped along to at Harvey Nichols last week!

I'm already a huge Stila fan - their Stay All Day foundation, Liquid Lipsticks and Lip Glazes (in all of the colours!) are firm favourites! So I was really excited to see the latest products touching down just in time for summer.

The 'Impressionist Collection' presented on the night did not disappoint!
Highlights included a brand new foundation and a gorgeous lip and cheek palette in two lovely shades.

The Aqua Glow Serum Foundation, as the name implies, is serum based - making it light, dewy and oh so hydrating. It also contains my favourite Hyaluronic Acid, guaranteeing a glowing finish!

I'm a huge fan of palettes and this one, in Sunset Serenade, is a beauty!
The Convertible Color Dual Lip and Cheek Cream palette is a great multi-tasker, with five fabulous shades that can be slicked on with ease. Perfect for holidays and throwing in your handbag!

Last but not least, I was delighted to receive another 'Liquid Lipstick' for my collection, in the new Caramello shade. You just can't be a good nude and these give the most gorgeous finish. They have amazing staying power too - the colour literally does not budge!

So much to get excited about, now all we need is some sunny weather to really get our glow on :)

Have a fabulous long weekend!

Strawberry and Blueberry Chia seed pudding....

I love chia seeds as they are so high in protein, and fibre and they fill you up for longer which keeps the dreaded sugary snacking at bay!

I found loads of lovely recipes on Pinterest for chia pudding and decided to give it a go! This is the mixture I used....

1 cup of almond milk
3 tbsps chia seeds
1 cup of fresh strawberries chopped
A handful of blueberries
1tsp honey
1tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Add 3 tablespoons of chia seeds to 1 cup of almond milk-stir in the honey and vanilla extract and chill the mixture for about 4 hours or overnight in the fridge. When it is ready I added in a little pureed fresh strawberry to flavour the chia and almond mixture.

If you don't like almonds, I think coconut milk would also work great in this recipe:)

Top with the remaining chopped fresh fruit to serve. This is perfect to use for a quick breakfast on the go or as a healthy pudding option after a main meal:)

Hope you are all having a good week:)

I also had a fab meal with my husband in The Avenue restaurant Temple Bar Dublin-a sweet birthday gift from my lovely god-daughter:)

I had a great night at the Stila S/S16 event in Dundrum this week:) The new collection is stunning! Laura

Skincare Saturday

Happy Saturday everyone!
We're talking skincare today, in the form of this wonder oil from Kiehl's.

'Midnight Recovery Concentrate' has long been a favourite of skincare gurus and beauty bloggers alike - and I finally added it to my vast collection of lotions and potions just before Christmas!

I began using it every night after cleansing and instantly fell in love. The soft lavender scent is soothing and calming and the formula just melts into the skin. It's a dry oil, so your face doesn't feel greasy after using it and there's zero residue left on the skin the next morning.

While my skin felt fresh and soft every morning after using it, I didn't notice any dramatic difference in it's overall appearance. It was only a few weeks in when friends started commenting on how good my skin looked (clear and glowing) that I stopped and thought, 'it must be the Midnight Recovery' as I hadn't changed anything else in my skincare routine!

So I'll definitely carry on using it :) It is expensive at €44, but a little goes a long way! Next on my list is its newest sister, the Daily Reviving Concentrate. They now come as a duo, at €69 for the pair, so I'll be investing when my current bottle runs out!

Have a lovely weekend!

Spring showers....

Whilst we are enjoying some fab spring sunshine this week, our crazy weather can change in an instant and it is always handy to have a lightweight jacket or raincoat on standby. I love my short Zara mac and I also have this khaki lightweight parka I found in Penneys last year- cheap as chips but it goes with everything....

Shiny moments...

Happy Sunday everyone:) Over half way through April already! We are really looking forward to May as the weather usually warms up a bit and there are so many lovely clothes in the shops, we can't wait to shed the heavy layers and wear some lighter clothing:)

Here are a few shiny moments from our week gone by.

Cherry blossom and blue skies always make for the prettiest of spring photos:) Laura

Absolutely loving this cream-it smells divine and it feels so light on the skin, I may never go back to any other moisturizer:) Anne

It was nice to wear a lighter blazer on a lovely sunny morning this week! I bought this blush pink one in New Look about two years ago and I find it so useful, as the neutral colour goes with lots of items in my wardrobe.

I enjoyed such a fab night out with friends in Sam's Bar Dawson Street last night-definitely a taste of more from those delicious cocktails:) Laura

We hope you all have a lovely week:)

Spring/Summer Garden Decor

Hello:) Hope you are all having a good week! As soon as a little sun shines, I start planning my garden and pots for the summer ahead:)
I love shades of grey and green together, so I've been saving lots of photos on Pinterest for inspiration to get me started this season....

Pots of  green grasses look fab grouped together in different height containers....

Keeping it simple here with clean lines and soft tone furniture....

A lovely idea to decorate a plain garden wall or add a little interest on the side of a shed....

Another lovely simple but effective pot arrangement....

I love this old rustic style table..... I managed to pick up a lovely wood one in the charity shop last summer and I must paint it again to have it ready for some outdoor dining (weather permitting!)...

Take Care:)

Bardot Style

Oh Monday, you really spoiled us today! In a bid to see past that horrible rain, we're immersing ourselves in all things summer this evening :)

Bardot tops (and dresses!) caught our eye last season and there's plenty more to lust over this year!
I've rounded up a few current faves that are perfect for pairing with your favourite skinny jeans....

I had lots of questions about this River Island one I wore recently and although it's now sold out, the Vila one above is very similar!

If you need a little more styling inspiration, here's a few looks from our Pinterest boards...

Coming across this fab plant pot while doing the weekly shop in Lidl -  a steal at only €3.99! (Anne)

Staying with the interiors bargains, Penneys came up trumps yet again...

This little pom pom cushion was reduced to €2...

And I can never resist a touch of rose gold! How fab are these candles? (Laura)

Saturday made all the better with delicious pancakes for breakfast!

Fresh Spring nails in one of my favourite Shellac shades, Lobster Roll.

Casual Spring Footwear

Our weather is so unpredictable at this time of year, that I often find it hard making the switch over from my comfy warm winter boots to a lighter shoe option. Some days are just too cold or damp for a  peep-toe or canvas pumps which I do like to wear- but just not yet!
This is where the good old sneakers/trainers come in as they are so versatile and I am glad to see the trend is still going strong!

Beige lightweight coat| Only S/S 15
Striped Top|House Of Fraser (Old)
Faux Leather Jeans| Vero Moda A/W 15
Black leather Trainers|Geox

I love having a browse in my local boutique when the new season stock is arriving and was delighted to spot these black Geox trainers at the weekend. I have had four pairs from this brand over the years, and they are just the most comfortable casual shoes I have ever bought! These black ones go with loads of outfits I have already which is always a bonus. I can't find my exact pair to link to online but there are loads of other styles and colours available:)

I may also go back for a silver pair I spotted similar to the ones below, as this colour would be perfect for summer!

Light grey and silver Geox

I have also bought these Khaki sneakers from Zara and they are another great option for everyday wear.

Or if you want a comfortable slip on version I think this navy pair from Dunnes are great value for €20

Hope you are all having a great week:)
