Summer Espadrilles

Inspired by the sunshine, we're talking summer shoes today! And nothing screams summer like espadrilles. We've spotted them everywhere this season in a range of styles - from classic slip ons to laced up lovelies and comfy wedges. Blending comfort and style, espadrilles are definitely a holiday essential.

Take a peek at some of our faves...
Zara Lace Up | Topshop Wedge | Office Slip On | River Island Leopard | Miss KG Ankle Tie

We love how versatile they are - you can literally wear them with anything! Here's some styling inspiration spotted on Pinterest.

Hope everyone's week is off to a lovely start!
I'm enjoying a couple of days off work, so signing off now to go and soak up some rays :)

Shiny Moments

Happy Sunday everyone, we hope everyone has been enjoying the sun this weekend!
Long may it last :) Here's a round up of this week's 'Shiny Moments'...

Morning strolls along the canal...

Enjoying these delicious pancakes outdoors...

The brand new Meadows & Byrne store opened in Naas this week and my interiors wishlist suddenly grew a lot longer. I'll be popping in regularly! Anne :)

Styling up my gorgeous marble sunglasses from Primp & Style! There's still two days left to use our exclusive discount code and get 15% off everything across the site with 'Lustrous15'.

The arrival of this Lightbox from My Shining Armour was possibly the highlight of my week! I've wanted one for so long and can't wait to get creative with it :)

Having enjoyed a yummy bottomless brunch at Bloom Brasserie a few weeks ago, myself and my friend Aoife went back last night and we haven't stopped talking about the food since! Everything from the buzzing atmosphere to the friendly service was exceptional. If you're in the Baggot Street area, we definitely recommend a visit! (Tip, try the creme brulee!) Laura :)

Have a great week!

Large Fruity Ice Cubes...

I love having ice cubes to hand in the summer to add a little extra something to drinks but I always find the small ones melt away very quickly, especially in larger water pitchers! I was delighted to find this fabulous idea here of making larger ones in a muffin tin!

They couldn't be easier to do-just slice whatever fruit you want to use, I had lemons, a lime and I also used some cucumber. Slice them evenly and place in your tin. Cover them with water half way or just a bit over. Put the muffin tin in the freezer on a level surface for about 4 hours or overnight if possible!

When frozen just turn out of the muffin tin when you need them! I tipped them all out with a sharp knife and refroze the ones I didn't use in plastic freezer bags:)

These are so refreshing served in plain water, lemonade, fruity punch or any of your favourite summertime bevvies!

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Shiny Moments....

Hello and a very Happy Sunday! We are trying to ignore the nutty weather here-thunder and lighting and torrential downpours all weekend :(

It is supposed to improve next week, so here's hoping the sunny weather makes a quick return!

Here are some shiny moments from our week gone by...

Sunny post work evening beach walks are just the best! So good to breath in all that fresh sea air and not a storm cloud in sight :) L

Coffee, clear blue skies and a little retail therapy started my week off just fine :) A

I am enjoying the flavour of this Cranberry, sweet vanilla and Rose Pukka tea I picked up in my local health shop :)

I love buying new summer sandals-I got the tan Carvela pair for €34 in TK Maxx and the blush pink ones in Penneys for €18 :) A

Another great Penneys find this week-I'm loving my new white runners :) They will be nice to wear with casual summer dresses too, for a laid back weekend look. L

We hope you all have a good week ahead:)

Dining Al Fresco...

Now that we have had a slight taste of summer (trying to ignore a heavy downpour as I type!) hopefully we will be spending a lot more time outdoors over the coming months, and I just love being out in the garden as much as I can :)

It adds an enjoyable dimension to eating and besides there is no harm in being prepared, so I've gathered some of my favourite photos for a little summertime inspiration....

I love the idea above of a large wooden board laden with fresh meats and fruit-perfect for a larger summer garden party.

I think smaller bread boards would also work for impromptu casual lunches!

or if you do prefer to use crockery as in the photo above, you can gather together a mixture of your favourite platters and bowls-I am a huge fan of white crockery of any sort and try to keep them all stacked in one kitchen press so they are always on hand, ready to use.

Candles are a great way to add to the overall atmosphere, especially in the evening time as the light starts to fade. I love the simple idea used above, nestled amongst the white flowers, this candle holder makes a lovely statement table centrepiece and it would be a lot safer than smaller holders and tealights!

This was on Monday, enjoying a spot of lunch in the garden-hopefully there will be lots more sunny days like this to come!

Hope you are all having a good week :)

Shiny Moments....

Hello and a very happy sunny Sunday :) We could well get used to this lovely weather, it's so good to be able to sit outside and read and relax in the warm sun! Here are a few of our shiny moments from this week.

A pink carpet of cherry blossoms in Herbert Park.

Yummy Friday cocktails with friends at Angelina's.

Sunny evening views :)

Lazy sunny afternoons reading in the garden...

I love wearing lighter clothes and we got a lovely jewellery package sent over to us from Primp and Style this week. I am wearing a gold and crystal ring necklace here and it is the perfect summer statement piece to jazz up an outfit for an evening out :) A

I'm loving my new sunglasses - oversized cat eyes are my absolute favourite! L

To celebrate the sunshine, Amber at Primp and Style has kindly offered a 15% discount to all our readers until May 31st. Browse the fab collection here and use code Lustrous15 to avail of the fab offer!

Plain White Tee

Happy sunny Friday everyone!
I've been meaning to do this post for a while and what better time now that summer has arrived!

A plain white t-shirt is a staple all year long but even more so throughout the summer. Perfect for layering or simply throwing on with jeans or shorts - day or night it looks crisp, fresh and instantly polished.

Zara, Selected Femme and H&M are always a good starting point for nice, silky styles and we recently came across a fab label, The Fifth, through a lovely new Irish website, The Store.

Founded by two sisters after our own heart who believe fashion starts with great basic essentials, it's an online treasure trove of luxe separates (like the above) and definitely worth a browse!

As the sun is shining I'm making the most of it today and wearing a plain Zara tee with my Dresses.ie blush pinafore!

Here's some more t-shirt style we're loving...

Have a great weekend in the sun!

Avocado and Chocolate Summer Pudding....

I love avocados and had been looking for an easy dairy free summer dessert option, so this recipe seemed good and also fairly easy to make, which always helps:) The riper the avocado the better-one of mine was a bit hard so it took longer than necessary to blend!

These are the ingredients I used to make mine...

2 ripe avocados
1/2 cup of cacao powder or ordinary cocoa powder if you prefer the taste
1tsp of vanilla essence
1tsp lemon essence (this takes away some of the bitter cacao powder taste)
1/2 frozen banana (adds extra creaminess)
2 tbsps almond milk

Fresh fruit/ice-cream or yoghurt to serve

Put the avocados and banana in a blender (I used our nutribullet) and pulse until thick and creamy-add the rest of the liquid ingredients and blend until you get a smooth glossy mixture. I had to stop and scrape a few times before this happened.

Chill the blended mixture in the fridge for about two hours, before serving in individual dishes with the fruit and toppings.

I also mashed a handful of almonds and added them on top, together with the fruit for a little added crunchiness.

We also love this Irish dairy free ice-cream Nobó which is so good to serve with summery desserts:) I actually used it all winter as well with my berry fruit crumbles!

I hope you enjoyed this recipe and may summer arrive good and proper soon:)

Shiny Moments

Hello and welcome to our latest round up of Shiny Moments :) Gotta love a bank holiday and a short week - the weekend came around nice and quick! We did think we were going to have a heatwave this weekend and although it got off to a false start yesterday, today turned out just gorgeous!

Here is a little look back at our highlights from last week...

I spent a lovely few days down in Cork with my mum and the bit of sunshine made it all the better. This was the view from the golf club where we had a gorgeous lunch on Monday :) Anne

I finally got around to painting my ancient terracotta bathroom tiles. I was going to rip them out but I think the paint job is actually going to work in there, so we can just add some new accessories and see how it looks! Anne

Bubbles are always a good way to celebrate Friday and kick start the weekend! I'm loving this 'La Fornarina' Prosecco from Tesco lately. Laura

I popped along to Cleaver East again for brunch this weekend and oh my god...this dessert was heaven on a plate! The holiday diet starts tomorrow...

Tan sandals and white jeans are out for a sunny Sunday afternoon in the city!

We hope you all have a lovely week :)

Pillow Talk....

Happy Friday everyone! We are huge fans of Savvy Sleepers satin pillowcases here so we were delighted when founder Dale got in touch again and asked if we would like to review the new limited edition spring/summer colour, Serenity!

We already have two of the other fabulous colours, White Russian and Nappuccino, which we spoke about previously here on the blog.

This new addition, a fabulous shade of blue, is perfect to refresh summer bedding and of course, as always, so comfortable and lovely to sleep on. It comes in a standard and king size and there is also a travel size which is perfect for holidays!

They also have the added bonus of an inner secret pocket for keeping your jewellery, nick naks, etc. safe while you sleep ....

There are many benefits to sleeping on satin - the most important being that it protects delicate facial skin, reduces pillow lines that cause the dreaded wrinkles and prevents hair breakage. Almost like a nightly spa treatment for hair and skin you could say :)

We think they are the perfect gift option, or you may just feel like treating yourself to something luxurious and pretty for no particular reason :)

You will find all the details about colours, prices and sizes here

Hope you all have a lovely weekend :)
