Casual Summer Trousers

It's hard to know what to wear on cooler summer days when you want to ditch the jeans and it's a little chilly to bare a leg in skirts or dresses! Casual pants are a great standby for this and they are also perfect for travelling at this time of year :)

Worn with sandals or sneakers I think they always look ultra chic!

I bought the above pair in khaki from Mango recently and they are so comfortable. They are available in four colours and currently reduced to €14.95

These are a few other casual styles I like...

Linen blend herringbone wide leg from M&S

Love these piped formal jogger style from Topshop

Knot wide leg cropped from  Zara these would be great dressed up for a night out also

Love this all black look!

If you need an extra layer a cool white blazer goes perfectly with this
style for a polished casual look.

I'm currently settling in nicely in sunny Portugal and so looking forward to a week of relaxing! Follow along on Instagram for some holiday snaps :)

Festoon garden lights....

Hello, hope you are all having a good week:) I love a bit of twinkle in the garden on a summer's evening and I'm all over the current trend of festoon lighting!
They add a lovely ambient glow to the garden, especially draped loosely over branches of trees or wooden arbours.

Here are some of my favourite inspiration photos...

Would gladly while away a few hours here....

or this corner would be amazing to relax in over some chilled drinks

You could add a little bunting to the mix for a special event...
If your looking for similar lights I found these 50 LED ORB string lights
at Littlewoods for €21

Also love these 20 LED warm white lights from Lights4fun

Hope we get lots of warm summer evenings to sit and enjoy the outdoors:)

Pom Pom Pretty

With holidays on the horizon (Portugal for Anne and Greece for Laura!), our penchant for Pom-Poms is growing by the day. Adding embellishment to everything from sandals to dresses, Pom-Poms are popping up everywhere this summer!

We came across a gorgeous Greek Etsy site, specialising in made to order Pom-Pom sandals. Decorated with colourful friendship bracelets, semi precious stones, beads, charms and crystals, these sandals are too cute. And yes, they are little unicorns we spy on the pair above!

We've also rounded up a few of favourites in-store and online for the ultimate summery vibes!

Topshop Playsuit | Zara Sandals | Misguided Hat | ASOS Clutch | Loeffler Randall Sandals

And now for some styling inspiration! These playful pieces add a lovely pop of colour, so we suggest keeping the rest of your look simple. The exotic shades look so striking against all white, crisp denim or solid blocks of colour.

Griddled garlic infused sweet potato slices....

I love sweet potatoes and they are the perfect accompaniment to summer eating. They lend themselves good for griddling on a pan or on the bbq, as you get a nice sweet creamy texture blended with a slightly charred crisp outer.

They are also rich in antioxidents and provide a good source of fibre so this dish could also be used for snacks. I adapted mine from this recipe here.

Ingredients
2-3 sweet potatoes sliced
2 tbsps of Olive oil for brushing. (Mine was infused with garlic and basil but use plain olive oil if you wish.)

Directions
Heat a griddle pan until it is smoking slightly, then add the oiled sliced sweet potatoes in small batches. Cook for about 3 mins on each side until softened.

Remove and serve as a side dish, sprinkled with some mint, scallions or basil for added flavour.

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Light cover-ups/jackets.....

Lighter cover ups are a summer staple and great to have on hand for slightly cooler days when you need a little extra coverage, but do not want to wear a heavy jacket or knitwear.

I have a few oldies I keep trotting out, but these are a few current styles I have my eye on....

Cropped box style embroidered jacket from Zara

A lovely subtle floral print drape front from Monsoon....

Wide sleeved patterned style from H&M also available in three other plain colours....this is great if you prefer a longer length.

Animal print kimono style from Boohoo.... I think this would look fab over an all white outfit and a steal for €20.00!

This blue print one I'm wearing above is a favourite of mine  from last summer and it will be going on holidays with me again this year.

Simple summer tops....

What a fabulous sunny week we've had and it looks set to continue for another while, so I'm intent on enjoying every minute of it while I can! I love simple tops and you can never have enough of them in summer to throw on over your white skinnies, skirts or cropped denims.

I bought the blue chambray one above in Zara recently and fell in love with the fuller sleeve detail which can be worn casual for day or could easily be dressed up a little for a night out.

I found the green jersey off the shoulder one I'm wearing above in a little boutique on holiday in Portugal last year, and it is perfect for keeping cool on warm sunny days. I need some more of this style for everyday wear!

Here are a few more summer styles I love....

I love Cos for separates and I think this belted cotton style is so elegant and classy, especially when  worn with wider trousers or cool culottes...

If your a stripe lover like me, this Zara loose sleeved is perfect for easy breezy summer styling...

For dressier wear I love this pretty black lace number from H&M, it would be fabulous for an evening out, especially on holidays and I think it looks way more expensive than the €29.99 price tag. It is also available in white.

I hope you all have a great weekend and may the sun keep shining a little while longer:)
