Summer colour....

With the sun shining brightly last week it was hard not to ignore and break out some lovely summer colour! I always love a pop of Orange and spied this great little top in Zara. It was intended for my holidays in Italy which are not that far away now thankfully, but wore it for Sarah's transition year graduation night last Thursday as it was such a warm evening.

I wore it with my white iclothing jeans and kept my shoes and bag neutral. My new beige Mulberry is also proving to be invaluable, as it goes with almost everything especially, at this time of the year. I would also wear this top with my wide leg cream trousers or white cotton shorts or skirt for holidays.

Hope you are all having a good week:) Laura was off in France with work this week, so I'm sure she will be sharing some lovely photos later on.

Summer planters....

Hi everyone! Summer is here and with comes more time spent outdoors (well hopefully) and while I am not a huge gardener as such, I do appreciate some pretty tubs and planters.

Here are a few of my favourite plants which are easy to maintain and add a nice bit of colour to the patio or around the front door ....

You will find these Geraniums in almost every supermarket carrying plants and flowers and they are fantastic for tubs, lots of vibrant colour all summer long:)

Beautiful lavender, great in window planters or equally good in side borders, the scent is divine....

Another favourite of mine the humble pansies which also come in various colours and sizes. I also love the little violas grouped together in one tub for maximum impact...

I also like these plain grasses planted in an attractive pot, very easy to maintain which is always good!!

Another pretty layered look with pink geraniums....

I love a standard tree in a good planter and keeping the one colour plant as a contrast makes it look so classy! White always works particularly good with the green:)

Hope you are all having a good week and looking forward to the weekend!

Just a little extra update, irish gardening expert Diarmuid Gavin is launching a fabulous summer garden in Dundrum town centre this Saturday which will be on view over the summer months and will be revealing all on tomorrow nights Late Late show!

Take care:)

Race Ready Weekend Edit

Happy Saturday everyone!
The weeks sure are flying by...I can't believe it is already nearly mid-May.
As well as the much welcomed dose of vitamin D this month, racing season is well and truly in full swing.

Being from Kildare, I have attended many Ladies Days events over the years. It's always a fab opportunity to grab your girls (and your guys) for a glam day out - which is exactly what I'm doing on Sunday 21st May at Naas Racecourse!

The prize on offer for 'Best Dressed Lady' at Naas Racecourse this season includes an amazing €1,000 voucher for Kildare Village and an exclusive overnight stay in the Manor House at Palmerstown House Estate for you and 19 of your friends. Now isn't that a treat worth upping the style stakes for!

The theme this year is Fresh, Fun & Vibrant, with no set rules to abide by. While hats and headpieces are typically associated with winning style, they are not an essential for this event - in fact Naas Racecourse are encouraging ladies to experiment with alternative twists on the classic Ladies Day looks.

I'm always a bit last minute dot com when it comes to choosing an outfit (I like to say I work best under pressure!), so today I'm busy browsing online and I've styled up three very different looks for inspiration...
Bag | Dress | Shoes | Coat

Admission to Ladies Day is only €15 and Naas Racecourse have kindly offered Lustrous readers a 15% discount on top of this. Just call 045 897 391 and quote 'stylebylaura' to book your tickets and receive your discount :) More details on timings for the day can be found here.

Hope to see some of you there and I'll be back next week to share details of my own outfit.
Follow along on Instagram (@stylebylaura), where I'll be sharing more racing style tips during the week too :)

Have a fabulous weekend!

Summer Cardigans....

Our summer can be a little tricky to dress for as it may look very sunny and warm, but it it's often rather chilly early morning or if you happen to be sitting in a shaded area for a while.

I love a nice lightweight cardigan and find them a great option for summer layering and staving off any unwanted chills! They are also great for travelling, as it can get quite cool sitting on a plane for a few hours.

Taupe cardigan|Selected Femme
Jeans|Poco by Pippa dark slimmers (short leg)

I bought this one in my local Crave boutique in Naas. It's by Selected Femme a brand I love, as they are reasonably priced for the quality- this one was €79.99 and their pieces always fit me well. This is a fairly neutral shade of taupe and will be great for layering over t shirts and light knits for cooler summer days.

These are a few more current styles I like.....

Lina cardigan from Hush

Mid grey fine drape cardi from Oasis

A lovely light grey option with a chiffon back from River Island

Baby pink waterfall cardigan from Next

Hope you are all having a good week:)
