Visit to The Orchard...

Last Sunday I brought my mum for a trip to the award winning Orchard lifestyle and garden store in Celbridge Co Kildare. I had been there myself once before and especially loved the well laid out interiors section.

I knew my mum would love a stroll around the beautiful garden centre as she adores browsing and seeking out unusual plants, so it was the perfect place to head on a glorious sunny Sunday afternoon.

I fell in love with all the furniture layouts on display and of course immediately felt the need to change every colour scheme in the house!! Anyhow I settled for buying a new cushion in summery colours to add a fresh vibe to my sunroom:)

After strolling around the beautiful garden centre we couldn't leave without stopping into the friendly cafe, for a lovely cup of coffee and cake before going home.

The Orchard is well worth a visit if anyone is in the Kildare area and looking for somewhere different to visit.

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Take Care!

Interiors:Spring Colour

Once Christmas has gone by, I'm not really a fan of the winter anymore! Short, damp cold days and being stuck indoors a lot makes me tetchy and longing for a bit of spring warmth! So to lift the spirits a tad, I've looked to some of the interior and homeware stores to seek out a little spring colour and they did not disappoint!

Here are a few favourites I found:)

Emerald green is a big colour for 2017 and I love the mix of shades here with the yellow
 from H&M home

If your looking for unusual bits and bobs, Carolyn Donnelly @ Dunnes always has some lovely utensils and crockery to add an instant update to the kitchen or dining room.

New bedding is always a lovely pick me up and these gorgeous florals from Next are just perfect for bright spring days ahead:)

Loving theses aqua tray tables from my favourite shop in our town at the moment, Meadows and Byrne ...the perfect shade to add a pop of colour to any room and also very versatile as they are so light to lift and move around quite easily.

Finally adding a little spring colour with some faux flowers is so easy, Dust have a great selection online to choose from!

Hope you are all having a good week:)

Christmas countdown: Some festive table decor ideas....

I  hope your all enjoying the Christmas festivities, and have most of the important planning for the big day well underway!

I know everyone has their own ideas on table decor and entertaining, but here are a few pretty inspirational photos if your still looking for some last minute ideas...

Holly and tealights the perfect festive combination, no real effort required either which makes it even better!

Green and white never fails and the simplicity of this beautiful layout is a definite winner for me...

Or leave out the greenery all together and just use a string of fairy lights and your favorite glass decorations....

Traditional red is still a firm favourite and it looks fabulous here layered with the plain white plates...

A simple but lovely idea above for name places.....

A basic cake stand decorated with a pretty floral wreath and pillar candles makes for a lovely centrepiece and a good option if your short of space on the christmas dinner table....

Just as an end note, if anyone is looking for plain tablecloths, I ordered two of the above from H&M and they are fab value for €12.99. I got a white and grey and took the larger size to fit my dining table.

The Christmas wreath....

Happy December everyone! The last and best month of the year has arrived and we are in full festive decorating mood here at Lustrous! For an easy seasonal update, you can't beat a gorgeous wreath hanging on the front door!

If your looking to update your Christmas wreath, here are a few styles you might like ...

image

A traditional red and green wreath always looks so pretty and seasonal....

Or opt for a very pared back style, with a simple bow and silver/white berry decorations....

Another red and green style - this time with a rustic vibe due to the addition of pinecones and cinnamon sticks....

Bling it up with some pretty metallic baubles, and add a snowy effect with a can of white spray.....

We love the idea above, of using the same decoration all over to make a very simple eye catching display...

Wishing you all a fabulous festive weekend:)

Happy decorating or shopping!!

Wearing and decorating with winter whites.....

We love a touch of winter white here at Lustrous, it has a lovely way of keeping things fresh and bright looking on dark dreary days! From chunky knits to cosy throws and cushions, there are endless ways to introduce this colourway to your winter attire and decor schemes!

Here are a few of our favourites ideas using this pretty colour palette.

Lounging in comfy oversized  knits.....

Keeping warm with chunky white gloves and steaming hot choccies....

We love a stylish oversized neutral scarf, so pretty and practical on a cold winters day....

Twinkling tealights or small white candles look delightful grouped together on a long dining table

Snuggle up in a cosy corner, mug in hand with a favourite book to read...nothing beats this on a cold wintery afternoon!

Loving this white on white bedroom scheme....

Wishing you all a lovely cosy weekend:)

A touch of velvet

Hello and happy Monday all! How can it be the last week of October already? This month just flew by!! Now velvet is having a bit of a moment in the fashion world, but it also looks fab incorporated into home decor. It is so soft and glamorous, and instantly adds a luxurious touch to any room.

Here are a few lovely inspirational pins, which show how it can be used as part of your autumn/winter decor scheme:)

This stunning blue velvet couch makes a real statement piece in the living room....

A beautiful velvet throw and co ordinating cushions in soft tones, add a very cosy vibe to the bedroom....

A gorgeous velvet tufted chair blends perfectly with the mirrored dresser here....

and of course you can go wrong with a beautiful velvet headboard to finish off the bedroom decor...

I love the colour and style of this simple chair, which would be so versatile and fit perfectly with any decor scheme in the house....

So these are just some of the beautiful ways you can add a little luxury and velvet touch to your home decor! Personally I'd love the pink bedroom chair and mirrored dressing table as seen above!

Wishing you all a lovely week ahead:)

Autumnal evenings....

I love autumn, in fact I'd go so far as to say it is definitely my favourite season. The cooler evenings and dark nights are the best excuse to cosy up on a big sofa surrounded by your favourite cushions, throws and of course a few gorgeous candles lighting always add to the overall ambience!

Here are a few simple style ideas I'm liking, to set the autumnal tone even if you are not quite feeling it yet!

Have a wicker basket with lots of cosy throws to hand...

Woolly socks, a warm fire and big mug of tea whilst reading, just perfect.....

Add a little autumnal decor with seasonal pumpkins to the rooms....

I just love the collection of chunky pillar candles on the table here.....

Hope you all have a lovely weekend! I can't quite believe it's October already tomorrow!

Autumn decor changes....

Now that the days are shortening and darkness creeps in a bit earlier every evening, my thoughts are on  making things a little cosier for the winter nights ahead! Much as I love light bright airy rooms, I'm thinking of going a little darker in one or two corners this a/w.

I picked up a Farrow and Ball shade card recently and absolutely love the moles breath shade. I'm thinking it would look fab as a feature wall in my dining area, and these are a few inspirational pins I love....

Hope you all have a good week ahead:)

A few Spring updates....

January is almost gone and with Spring  just around the corner, it's time to look at a few ideas for updating the decor. Joy of joys I filled a skip with junk this week-normally I take things out then put them away somewhere else, but this time I was absolutely ruthless and cleared out loads! Now I can look at getting a few new bits and bobs without feeling guilty about my bulging cupboards:)

Buying some new tableware is always a good place to start and I love the gorgeous blue Spring floral pattern on this set from one of my favourite homestores  Meadows &Byrne.

Or a new special mug is always nice and this one from Anthropologie is just the perfect spring update....

Loving the delicate pattern on this cushion from Dunnes....

A new candle never goes astray and I like the look of this one from M&S....

I was in my local Heatons store the other day and was very impressed with their homewares section this season-they have some lovely colourful throws starting at just €15....

Hope you are all having a good week:)

The Christmas Table

One thing I look forward to every year is planning the Christmas table decor:) Now I have learnt over the years that keeping it simple is best-after all you have to leave plenty of room for the food and drink!

Here are a few of my favourite looks to inspire and add some festive cheer to the table for this year:)

I have used greenery with white flowers before and loved how fresh it looked!

A splash of traditional red is always so pretty at this time of year! I love the layered linen here also:)

If you want a more natural and rustic look, this branch, pine cone and white candle centerpiece would look fab!

A scandinavian style with touches of grey and white keeps the table clean, simple and fresh looking...

Images 1,2,4,5 and lots more table decorating ideas can be found here

I'm sure everyone has their own favourite style and colours for the big day but I hope you gathered a little bit of new inspiration here today:)

Have a good week:)
